bench rests

All whats a good front and rear rest to use? I'm not asking about one that costs $700 bucks but something lots cheaper yet will give good results. I currently have a Caldwell bag for a rear rest and the rifle slips and slides all over. Is this normal or just the bag? Look forward to some good sugges...

Re: My New rifle and new member

Those four powders, I have used them all. I used a lot of CCI 400 primers for years with no issues. Don’t know if it was a lot issue or what, but one summer I started popping them loaded with R10X loads. I have since went to 450’s or 71/2’s no more issues. YMMV jsh thanks I started with CCI 400 (25...

Re: My New rifle and new member

Shaky, over the years, I've accumulated over 25 loading manuals from all the major bullet makers. Every year I get the annual Hodgeon manual off the news stand, plus the annual Handloader Magazine annual. There are literally hundreds of loads published for every caliber of handgun and rifle in thes...

Re: My New rifle and new member

Shaky, for proven powders in the 204, my suggestions are: H335 RL-10X Benchmark CFE 223 From my own personal experience and pet loads listed here, these are the most popular powders in this caliber for good speed and accuracy, accuracy being the first priority. There are others of course that may p...

Buddy bought a CZ 204 and that is what he shot. He says he struggles to get hand loads to shoot as good.
JSH I have to agree, i had rifle sighted in on the 3rd group. Impressed with the set up.

Re: My New rifle and new member

Pretty decent set up you have there and looks like a nice private range. Nosler brass is pretty darn good and you can get some decent prices on it at Nosler's site (Shooters Pro Shop). :) Bill K Thanks, i'm pretty proud of my homestead. Thanks for the information on Noslers site. I will take a look.

Re: Favorite Loads

question for the group I am going to start load development with the Sierra 39 gr and some of the loads listed in this forum show CFE 223 and BLC 2 as a good choice. Where is this written? I have looked up Sierra load data (5th addition) and Hodgon website load data and Lyman reloading manual (51st ...

Re: My New rifle and new member

Shaky, good to have another experienced veteran here with us. You and I are not the only vets here, many are registered, many lurk. I see you intend to shoot the 40gr V-Max. I'm sure by now you've done some reading here and elsewhere, and have learned that the 40gr bullets are at the ragged edge of...

Well finally said the heck with it and bought one. She is a pretty young thing. I have a Bushnell Elite 4500 4-16X50 scope on it. She is a great sho...
