Re: 50gr. Bergers

Casey, The 50 Berger will not extend your range, even with a 9" twist barrel. The velocity loss between a 50gr and 39gr bullet is too much to overcome the very, very slight BC increase of the 50gr bullet. If someone would make a higher BC 45-50gr bullet them it might be worthwhile. All my 204R'...

Re: 2008 204 Ruger dot Com Postal Shoot

I installed a McGowen .204 barrel on a buddy's LRPV. We've had great results with Northlander's Shilen pre-fits but he was out of the Shilen. The McGowen looked great, broke in quickly and shoots as well as the Shilens. We just returned from our second South Dakota shoot and he said it cleaned up ju...

Re: New Savage BVSS Laminated Varmint Stock and Savage Barrels

Thanks BuickBoy71, those prairie dogs are in deep trouble once you get that .204R bedded and ready! Nice visiting with you.

Gerry, the barrel is insured, shipped and tracking on the way. Thank you!

Re: Keyhole help!?!?

I've got over a dozen .20 cal rifles(most are .204 Ruger but a few 20BR and such)and have worked on a number of others. I did see a Savage Custom Shop LRPV in 5x35SMC that keyholed because the crown was butchered but that was a really bad factory crown. What happens to most 204's is that the barrel ...

Re: Elite 4200 6X24X50, 30mm

Canis, The scope your are referencing is a Bushnell Tactical Elite, a model just released this spring. I have two of them and also have two of the earlier released, 1" tube Elites, with side focus. The older model 4200's and B & L 4000 are the long models with front AO's. I'm impressed with...

Great groups and I've found the same with Varget, however the velocity is a couple hundred fps off what RL-10X, BLC02, N133 will do. I think that I most of my rifles started showing pressure signs at 27.8grs., do you use a drop tube to get the 28.0 charge in the case?

KVW,

You might find out what load your friend is using in what rifle and conditions, loose primer pockets in Lapua 223 brass are usually caused by the reloader..........

[quote="craigyboy"] I have only neck sized 1/2 the neck on the first loading of the brass and the second loading, I dont lube as my previous brass never needed it, could the new brass need lubed and therefore when I neck size its sligthly catching pushing the case neck downwards on the up ...

Rodbolt- Did you do anymore testing in other rifles with N-133? I am looking to try some load workup with it next week sometime with the 39 Sierra BK. Just curious if it performed as well in your other 204's. Phasor Sorry for the delay, I've been out of the loop for a bit. Made the second trip to S...

HSM ammo (Hunting Shack ammo) with 39gr Sierra Blitzking is the best shooting factory ammo I've tested in a few dozen 204 rifles. The same in 32gr SBK is close and better in a few but if you shoot beyond 200 yards the 39gr will win everytime. This ammo will match or exceed most casual shooters reloa...

kirbymagnum, I may be confused but the die with the sliding sleeve and micrometer head is the bullet seating die, not the bushing/sizer die..... The bushings go in the die that has the decapping pin to remove the primer. This die is somewhat different then a non-bushing sizer die in that you must ti...

jo191145, Congrat's on that .140" two hundred yard group, that's a keeper! I've been impressed with all the VV powders that I've tried, but just started with them this year. The N135 get the .223AI velocity where it usable. It just leaves H335 in the "dust", I bet the N530 would be wo...
