Re: Primers supplies??

Ray,

I was in a small store last Saturday and he told me he had been informed that Winchester probably will-not ship any primers this year because of ammunition demand. Definetly, a sad-state-of affairs. At this point I would take any Magnum primer I could get and go from there.

I'm definitely keeping it. Every once in a while, I'll rotate the factory grips (Hogue) with the oversized target grips, otherwise, it's stock, except the tuned DA trigger.

Re: 17M2 Info...

Rick, There is a custom gunsmith in Bremerton, WA named Ed Lapour. I bought my 1st firearm from him some 25 years ago. He told me then to always save the box, which I do. I have what seems to be a garage full of boxes that my Navy Trophy Rifles came in just in case I ever decide to unload them. I a...

Re: 40S&W or 357 mag.?

Rick,

I have a 6" stainless version of that model (heavy lug and unfluted cyclinder). Just don't see these (unfluted cylinders) laying around these days.

Re: 17M2 Info...

Rick, 1st of all, I'm going to have to subscribe to "Photo Bucket" so I can post pictures. Mine too has two barrels, just like yours. My 5" has a dot on it but I can install and extend the front sight. I'd hate buy one today. I got mine in a 4-gun trade years ago and it was tough gett...

Re: Carry handgun for calling predators in case a cougar attacks

Silverfox, A lot of good info here. Perhaps I over looked it but I didn’t see anything mentioned about a 10mm. It’s a darn good cartridge with similar hitting power of a 357 Magnum. I have an abundant of other calibers and I would choose a 40, 45 and 357 Mag/Sig over a 9mm. If I really...

Re: 17M2 Info...

The downside to a 17 HMR is the cost of ammo compared to a 22 (not sure what 17M2 runs) but it sure does reach out there and its a hoot to shoot. Last year I took my S&W Model 41 22 LR pistol out and I was hitting squirrels at 100-125 yards with them. It didn't always kill them at that distance ...

Re: 35 gr berger update......

I just picked me up some 35 Bergers to try out in my CZ. It loves 39's but a lot of folks recommend Bergers so I'm going to give them a try. I use H4895 & Reloader 15 for the most part.

Re: Start over......or not?

However, I was a little disappointed in the destruction and "air time" of the pd's, (as compared to 32 gr blitzkings). Doesn't the the air-time depend on where they are hit? I've shot ground squirrels right next to each other, some flipped and others didn't. I was using the same ammo. Jim

Re: Velocity Issue

darchell, You’re doing pretty good compared to mine. I have a CZ-527 American and with the following MAX (near and maybe over) I’m getting the following; Rifle: CZ-527 American, 22” barrel, 1x12 twist. Ammo: - Case: Remington - Bullet: 39 SBK - Primer: Remington 7 ½ - OAL: 2.2...

Re: Dillon 650 and the 204 Ruger

For me (650) Varget and 4895 are about the same. One thing that has helped me is to keep the powder measure level pretty constant. If you think Varget is bad, wait until you try Unique, its defenetly picky in mine. Supposedly, 4064 is a lot worse than Varget/4895. Anyway, here is something I came ac...

Re: The journey is nearing an end!!!!

Berettas reply, is that falls into our acceptable standards. So who wants to tell me that factory guns are made well today? Lenard Lenard , If a gun manufacturer ever told me that I'd certainly choose something else. Replacing a barrel on a brand new gun is defiently over the top. Speaking of guns ...

tckurt,

For the accurate stuff that is exactly how I seat the bullet and you're right about it decreasing TIR. I've never considered it when sizing, I'll have to check that out.

Thx,
