Re: Barnes 150 or 165gr TSX for elk

The possibility of an elk hunt is in the future. I'm shooting a .308 Win and can't decide what bullet to pick. Should I go for the vel of the 150 or a little more weight (energy) of the 165. Also, I know it's a little overkill but how well will they work on whitetails? Or am I just better off with ...

Re: Getting started Reloading .204 Ruger....What Dies?

I like Redding but Forester has worked real good for me too. They're just harder to find on the shelf.

Re: The journey is nearing an end!!!!

Well... the other caviet is, one has to be willing to change (I know, most people hate that in some degree or another) and experiment to get good groups. Mind you, if .600 to 1.000 MOA is good enough, then thats OK too but for me, it isn't. That said, I just wish my CZ-527 would should knot holes wi...

Re: What I just Learned

I used a Stoney point and checked both of by 204's (CZ & Remington) and I'd be surprised if there was enough case left to seat mine just off the lands. I'm afraid if i went to a custom barrel with a short throat I'd have to re-invent the wheel with my reloads.

Re: First Day at the Range

Looks good. When you get a chance, chronograph them and check the velocity. If you're happy, check out a online ballistic table and you're set.

Good luck

Re: The journey is nearing an end!!!!

I know people rave about Savages & CZ's but at the end of the day (and IMO) accuracy is in the eye of the shooter. For me, as a target shooter I'm somewhat obsessed with accuracy. I want it as tigt as possible. In the past 3 years I've bought 2 Savage Model 93's 17-HMR's, 1 CZ-527 American (204)...

Re: Fired my first rounds - need suggestions please.

By the looks of the target, that looks like a 2" center. To me it looks like: HOR: 1.375" VERT: 0.500" For 200 yards thats looks pretty good. I'd chronograph it and see what the velocity is in order to determine bullet drop over distance. I'm not familar woth the powder you tried but,...

Re: Am I not doing enough?

In case I over looked, I would check primer pocket umiformity. I would also consider doing a QA check on runout, if for no other reason it (seems to me) it confirms your equipment and technique is operating correctly. Components; I have a CZ-527 American that doesn't particularly car for Hornady 40 ...

Re: Primers

When I use the term bore condition I'm referring to the physical fouling Mixing various powder fouling during load development is not recommended. Thanks for sharing, I learned why. When I load test I'll season the barrel with fouling shots, let it cool and then get started. If testing various powd...

This should not apply to primers but one never really knows do they.
I wouldn't think merely changing powders would cause that either. Anyway, Good Luck!

Re: Primers

Jim I simply fire my primer tests round robin style all at once. thats the only way to preclude all the variables. Here's something I discovered when I shifted from .308 to .223 in my competition days. "If" your testing different powders especially from different suppliers, some will need...

Re: Primers

In every load I've tried them with they give me huge vertical dispersion. I see the same vertical with CCI-BR2 LR primers also. Having been frustrated on load test day I see what you mean. Always check to make SURE that; 1. The gun barrel is-not touching anything. 2. If your scope has critical eye ...

The way it works is; 1. Go to their website at http://www.swfa.com. When it loads; 2. On the left hand side of the page about 2/3'rds of the way down the page look for a link called "The Sample List". Open it up and when it loads; 3. Click on the image or, click on http://www.samplelist.co...

Re: 204 ruger vs 220 swift vs 22-250?

To all;

Thanks for the kind words. Shooting, whether its open sights (apature) has three basic rules;
Front Sight, Sight Alignment, Trigger Control. If you can do these three things consistently, you'll do good. Also, marksmanship is like dairy products; they will SOUR if not used.
