2008 whitetail season with 204!

Well the season is over and the 204 did well this year with 5 deer taken. They were all taken with the 40gr V Max bullets. First was a 120lb doe at 70yds in the white part of the neck. Dropped in her tracks! Second was a 2 1/2 yr old 7 pt buck 163lbs at ~200yds quartering to me with shot placement i...

Re: 2007 deer with 204 update!

Do not have a pic of the 110lb doe head shot. Bullet went in above the eye on one side, blew that eye totally out, other eye was hanging out, and everything that was bone above the top jaw was all mush. Litterally the top of its head felt like gak wrapped in deer hide! Here is a pic of the smaller o...

Re: 204 for yotes

Shooting coyotes at those distances is no problem with the 204. For minor pelt damage I would use a ballistic tip bullet. I like the 40gr v-max for a ballistic tip however some guns don't like em so then you would have to go with the 39gr BK or the 32gr v-max. Good luck!

Re: Leupold custom scope

My bro just got a VX-lll custom for his built 7mm-STW and he told them the info ect that they needed to make it. The way his works is to zero the rifle at 200yds. When shooting at ranges over 200yds turn it to 25x. Each line/dot below the center is 100yds farther than the above. Lines/dots go to 600...

2007 deer with 204 update!

Killed 2 deer this year with my 204. Both were does. One was shot at 25yds in the head that weighed 110lbs and the other was shot double lung at 75yds that weighed about 80lbs. The smaller one ran about 100yds. Everything between the rib cages was soup..... The berger 40gr HPBT will do its part as l...

It is not about the amount of energy the bullet has at a certain distance, it is what the bullet does with that energy! It's all about the damage done/wound channel the bullet creates. Trust me, I am a person that does not like to see an animal suffer so I take no chances on doing so. I only ...

I have the same gun as you and my most accurate load is with 40grn bergers and 30grns of BL-C(2)! Shoots ~3800fps and cuts the same hole at 100yds! Or you can say that it is a <.2" MOA load!

The reason I like to use small calibers deer hunting is due to seeing too many run offs with the larger calibers, 270, 30-06, 7mm mag, 300 mag, ect. I'd say roughly 10% of the deer shot with the larger calibers in my experience have been run offs with well placed vital shots! Run offs with the 204 b...

When choosing a caliber for any game bullet weight and caliber are irrevelant IMO. The damage that the bullet does and the wound channel it produces are the most important factors. Bullets of the same weight and/or caliber do not perform the same. It's not about punching a hole through an animal wit...

Deer got lucky!

I was deer huntin yesterday with my 204 lookin over a pretty large clear cut when 3 does came out at ~250yds. I put the crosshairs on the largest ones neck(white patch) and touched off. All 3 deer ran untill out of sight and I was then puzzled. I looked where the deer were standing and no blood, no ...
