Re: Help me choose a rifle in .204

Although I have not shot the Tikka, I handled one in the store lately as we are looking for my son's first rifle. I was very impressed with the quality of the Tikka, especially the trigger. It was very smooth and nice. It also has a fully floated barrel. For the money, I think it is a great deal. We...

Re: Is 22" too short for a 204 Ruger?

I have the Ruger MKII Ultralight which has a 20" barrel. I love it. I chronographed a load last weekend and I was getting 3750 fps out of it with 40 gr vmaxes and H4895.

Re: Thoughts on the .300 RCM and the .338 RCM?

I agree with you Glenn. I don't think the .300 RCM will last. The .338 might since that is what everyone seemed to want when Winchester released the .325 WSM. It's the potential for other calibers, smaller ones, that intrigues me.

Thoughts on the .300 RCM and the .338 RCM?

I know that this post probably belongs in the "Centerfire Rifles" forum, but I wanted to post it here so more people could comment on it. Just wanted your thoughts on the new Ruger calibers. I own a .270 WSM and my feelings on it have been mixed. I feel that the biggest disadvantage is tha...

Re: Ruger M77 Hawkeye

What did you end up getting? I currently own 3 Ruger centerfire rifles but have had experience with many more. One is a .243 with a tang safety. It was my first centerfire rifle and I still love it. The other two are MKII, one in a .204 and the other in a .270 WSM. They are great and all are accurat...

Re: Bull Elk - Use Enough Gun!

Boy, I could have a lot of fun with this one, especially when this site is geared toward the little .204. When I turned 14, I was a little squirt. My dad and brothers all shot .270s. I was smaller however and we got me a .243. I killed a lot of antelope and deer with that rifle. I even went elk hunt...

Thank you Kevin for all your hard work!

And congrats to Hawkeye Joe!

Think we could talk you into sharing with us your setup? Also, what is your load recipe (powder, bullets, etc.)?

Awesome job guys!

Re: Not a Trophy, but great eatin'!

Rick: That is good news. I used my .270 WSM this year to take my first branch-antlered bull. I was also shooting a TSX bullet. My first shot hit just behind the shoulder and exited. The other hit a little high in the shoulder, passing through the first shoulder blade and then breaking the second sho...

Man, that is awesome! Thanks for sharing. Congrats to your cousin!

I also passed on some small two and three pointers and ended up with nothing. However, my 12 year old son got his first deer. I could not have been more proud!

Re: Not a Trophy, but great eatin'!

All that matters in the hunt is that you had a good time!

How do you like your 7mm-08? Would you consider it enough gun for elk?

Re: WS2 Coated Bullets

There are a couple of us that should have some good chrono data in the next few weeks. I'm working on 2 boxes of 35 Bergers, I'll be shooting both coated and naked of the same loads. I'm hoping to shoot naked (bullets) this Saturday, and coated on Sunday. I will be anxiously awaiting your results. ...
