Re: New to reloading

Rick knows of what he speaks. I practice most of the same procedures he uses with the exception of the type of neck die. But like he says, it's a matter of preference. I've carried those techniques into LR shooting out to 1800 yds with the venerable .308 Win. Building your ammo as though it is a pre...

Re: 26 grn barnes varmint grenades

Love using the 26gr. VGs. Had 2 ground squirrels standing about 6" apart. Couldn't work out a way to line them up for a double. So I chose one to shoot. To my surprise both of them came apart! Talk about explosive!!

Re: .204 Bullet BC

Does nobody shoot .204's long range using ballistic programs? :chin: :chin:  Not on a regular basis. But I have shot mine at 1000 yds, just to see what I could do. Granted, I picked calm days (< 5mph winds). I used Strelok and it got me consistent hits on a standard IPSC target. Had to chuckle...

Re: 26 gr Barnes Varmint Grenade

Don't have pics and wish I'd taken a video of what happened a few days ago. I came out my back door and saw 2 stripers standing upright about 4" apart. I wanted to try a double with a single shot but couldn't maneuver without them diving for cover. Figured what the heck and lined up on the left...

Re: 3 card split

Bill K - Good idea but she has only a 10x scope on her AR. :)

Csand - We did something similar with ping pong balls. Not as dramatic as one would think. However...Easter eggs filled with Tannerite are another story!

Mike - Yup, definitely entertaining. Tnx.

Re: 3 card split

Mike,

Tried the briquettes. Yup, pretty good challenge with a 10 mph wind! Once she got dialed in, she did pretty well. Problem was with the charcoal. It doesn't blow up like I expected. Both of us just blew chunks out of them.

Bow Shot,
Glad you like the thread. Got any ideas?

Yellow jackets and pellet gun...sounds like fun and good practice, too. :)

Re: 3 card split

Great idea, Mike! Thanks for the suggestion. She loves reactive targets. Next trip to town has a bag of briquettes on the list. :)

Re: 3 card split

She'd try it, but 10x scope is all she has. ;)

Re: 204 Ruger throat

It's one of those cost/benefit issues, Bill. If you're getting the accuracy you want with the ammo you like, why change things? You're likely to lose something you already have by extending the throat.

3 card split

I'm still shaking my head at how far my wife has come in shooting. I got her her own AR15. A DPMS Prairie Panther. She was doing ok with it but the hand guard came loose. (it's a carbon fore end glued to the barrel nut). I finally got around to fixing it and we took it out and zeroed it. Then she wa...

Re: .204 Ruger shooting a 450 yard gong.

Great shooting! Very impressive. Good job of reading the mirage, too.

My wife just made her longest shot, so far. 250 yd hit on a crow. She's not satisfied, though. After seeing your vid, she wants to try 500 yds! ;)

Re: Moon light ambush

Thanks, guys.

Yup, she was a nice color. Sold to a fur buyer yesterday. The hide I plan on keeping is from that big one around here. If I ever get him. But, he didn't get big by being dumb.

Moon light ambush

Finally got my first night time coyote. I've been seeing lots of coyote tracks in my NW pasture and got their movement pattern figured out. Haven't seen a day light coyote around my place but twice this year. Seems they're moving at night. Since they're call savvy, I figured an ambush was the only w...

Re: Were can I get targets like this?

Tim's a nice guy. I talked to him several months back and he sent me a set of targets and we talked about I could set up a varmint rifle match. We've had 3 so far this year and one more to go before the cold weather hits. It's been quite successful. Since many of the prairie dog towns around here ha...
