Seating Depth verus Velocity/Pressure

I have a general question in regards to seating depth and Velocity. With the Ruger 204 seating the bullet out further than the standard 2.250 by .005 increments, will the velocity change as the seating depth is moved out? I have a Savage LRPV and cant seat the bullets out to Touch the Lands so I hav...

Re: Neck size or full length.

[quote="Rick in Oregon"]If you open a brand new bag-o-brass of any brand, you will find that it easily chambers in your rifle right out of the box, so why would anyone work that brass in a F/L die when it already chambers just dandy? F/L sizing of new brass makes zero sense. Do the normal ...

Sierra 20 cal Bullets 32 gr vs 39 gr C.O.A.L.

Just My curiosity working overtime.... Sierra 20 Cal Blitzking bullets.... Ok, It seems to me that the COAL of the 32 Gr Bullet would be shorter than that of the 39 gr bullet. How Much?? The Sierra Manual states that the C.O.A.L. of both are 2.250. Max 204 Ruger C.O.A.L. 2.260 Sierra 39 gr bullets m...

Clean burning powders for the 204 Ruger ?

I have been reloading for the 204 ruger for appx 2 years. I have mostly tried BLC-2 & H4895 powders getting good groups. It dawned on me today after cleaning the Rifle that the BLC-2 appears to be quite a bit dirtier than H4895. What powders are you loading the 204 ruger with that you have found...

Re: ruger m77 .204 blew up

Thanks for you response. I did just that. I had 7 reloaded left. I pulled 6 of those and they also where at 29.3, using both my 5-10 and my digital RCBS scales and I only trickle my loads and only ever have one powder open on my bench.. The reloaded where taken directly from my reloading room in my...

Re: Sierra 39 GR Blitz king & H4895 Powder

Although I don't use H4895 w/39gr sbk's, it is my opinion that you may never be able achieve your 1/4 in. groups @200yds again. That is some outstanding groups for that range. You need to consider the round count for your barrel, in my opinion. How big was your last canister of powder? Was it only ...

Sierra 39 GR Blitz king & H4895 Powder

I have been loading Sierra 39 GR Blitz king & H4895 Powder 26.5 grs- I was getting .25 in groups c-c @ 200 yards on a good day(low winds). I have run out of the lot # of the H4895 powder I was using :( . The new powder lot does not achieve the same group accuracy with this load. My plan now is t...

Re: 17 HMR Which one?

Hi Rick,

That looks like a very nice Anschutz, I like the heavy barrels if shooting off of a Bench.
I noticed the shooting bag it is sitting on, can you tell me who makes those bags?
I looks like a good bag, for shooting off of a bench to help steady the rifle.

Thanks,
Steve

Re: H4895+Cooper 1:12"~favorite bullets/data?

For my Savage M12 LRPV-
Dont own a Cooper- They are Great Looking Rifles

For the 39SBK/H4895 combo, 26.5 grains worked for me; Win-Case, Fed 205 primers.

Chubby, If I were going to be shooting Ground Hogs in farm lands I would set up with shooting sticks. I have used them when I shot a Ground Hog appx 18 mo's ago- the prpoerty owner wanted it gone. 17 HMR ,shot was @ 75 yds - Head Shot. DRT Heres some already made you may want to have a look at( not ...

Re: 223 bullet and powder choices

Rick, I have read when using H335 that a Magnum Small Rifle Primer is Recommended. When you load 223 Rem with the H335 do you use Small Rifle Magnum Primers? Federal 205's? Thanks Foxguy I do ALOT of rat shooting, and have five 223's. The powder I use for all five is H335....meters like water throug...

Re: 223 bullet and powder choices

Hi Chuckhunter, I too have a 223 rifle with a 9 twist barrel. I'm recently bought 500 55 gr balistic tip bullets.(ChuckHunter I believe a 55 Grain Bullet would work very Well). What powders would you recommend for a 55 grain bullet used in bolt action with 9 twist- 24 in barrel. I have some H4895 an...

Re: Varmageddon & Ballistic Tip Comparison

Speaking of the .204 cal 32gr Varmageddon ( Poly Tip Flat Base), I was able to purchase some when they first came out. I have been thinking of getting some more, But havent been able to find any- anywhere. They all say Out of Stock :( . I have to believe they are still being made? slow/ low producti...
