Grandkids First Texas Dove Hunt

These are my grandkids and my SIL. The kids were both born in Tucson AZ but recently moved here. Seth and my daughter Michelle are both native Texans and have been living in Arizona for the last seven years. We wanted to take them for their first ever Texas dove hunt. I was skeptical about the hunt ...

Re: Backyard Rat Rodeo

With a lake right behind my house, an air rifle is just the trick for mice and rats along that fence. The bird seed gets them up off the ground where a clear shot is possible. Hard to hide when you're three feet off the ground. The lake casts a lighter background that silhouettes the little buggers....

Backyard Rat Rodeo

After the Debate last night I went out on the back patio to smoke a cigar. I kept noticing a rat. It was coming across the top of the fence toward my bird feeder, uninvited. I got out my Daisy Bull's-Eye 1999 BB gun. I was thinking it would just scare him off since it's only about 350 FPS. When I pu...

Re: Savage 110 Harmint Handloads

Is that a ladder test using .5 grain increments? You might find a tighter node if you work from minimum to maximum loads in .2 grain increments. Any signs of pressure would be a good stopping point during a Ladder Load Development Test. Flat primers, bolt hard to lift, etc.

Vortex Crossfire Beater Bimoculars

I've been spending a lot of time scouting ducks recently. My grandchildren dropped my old Pentax beater binoculars so I decided to buy a cheap pair at Academy. These Vortex Crossfire HD 10x42 pair caught my eye. Well, the $99 price tag is what caught my eye. I think they're regularly $150-ish. I ask...

Re: Midsouth Shooters sale

I'm still here guys. I've been pretty busy lately with other interests. I've got to get all my shotgun hulls loaded in preparation for Teal Season opening in a few weeks. This is my favorite time of year with duck and dove seasons starting soon. Before you know it the weather will change and birds w...

Alliant Powder's Reloder 10 X has been a staple for my reloading bench since 2006. Well worth a try.

Re: American Predator

Speaking of twist rates and bullets, I think most 1:12 twist 204s will stabilize the 39 gr. SBKs but won't usually stabilize any of the 40 gr. bullets. I think that goes across the board for most 204 Ruger chamberings. I don't own a American Predator but every gun seems to have its own personality, ...

Your group was phenomenal. Five shots touching at 100 yards is a feat unto itself. Nice going. Thank you for participating!

Re: 2024 Small Caliber Five Shot Challenge TARGETS

I used Microsoft Power Point and resized all the targets so the rings and crosshairs were the exact same size. Then I measured using a line with ends the same diameter as possible to the bullet holes. Center to center Bill K's measured a .31. SecretCode was so close with a .35. To me that was good e...

Re: 2024 Small Caliber Five Shot Challenge TARGETS

If you are measuring outside to outside and subtracting the bullet diameter you'll have to subtract based on the round shot. Not everyone was shooting a .204.
