Re: 204 and Sage rats

yep the grass was just right about right 3" tall on the circles I shot at, passed through about a month later and alfalfa was about 8" tall so a standing rat you would be lucky to see there head only. And I have to say the rats were plentiful in the areas I set up at, But bummed to here on...

204 and Sage rats

Been a few weeks since my third full fledged sage rat outing in Crane Oregon, I got some what lucky again as weather was sunny and warm, but the wind never stopped. So I could not get any confirmed 500 yard plus shots like I had hoped. But I was flat impressed with my Savage 204 at 350-400 yards wit...

Re: Remington 700 sps varmit

It has taken me a year and half and I don't know how many load variations to get my Remmy sps 204 to finally shoot descent, I have replaced the stock with Boyd's thumbhe also pillared and bedded, messed with trigger to get close to my liking. Only load it will shoot is 32 balistic tip Noslers with 2...

Re: Using the Hornady Comparitor

I got tired of adjusting seating dies, so I bought a neck sizing set with a seater die. So I have 2 seating dies one die for 39 SBK's and the other die for 32's, once I had them set I don't have to mess with them just check with bullet comparator for a round or two spot on and just keep on seating b...

Re: 39SBK vs 32Vmax FPS results

Ya I'm still scratching my head on it. Also fired case necks on one rifle are coming out at .275 and the other is at .230 wich I understand is normal they both have factory tubes, one is getting replaced after this season think it will be better off as a tent stake as I have never have gotten it to ...

39SBK vs 32Vmax FPS results

I finally ran some loads through a chrono, it was interesting according to it 39 SBK's with 24.9 grains of RE 10X, Win Brass and Rem 7 1/2 br primer 10 shot string averaged 3928 Fps out a of 26" barrel savage rifle, and a Remington 26" barrel shooting 32 Vmax with 25.1 grains of RE 10X win...

Re: Sage rats!

It is such a bad habit to pick up, you start out small with Ruger 10/22 spend money on it to be more accurate, then those companies come out with something new you have to buy "17 HMR" then you come to distance limit on what it will do, And the rats way out there just laugh at you. So you ...

Re: Fiocchi ammo

I picked a few boxes awhile ago and found it to be very accurate in my Remmy 700, shot sub 1" at 100 yds. Worked better than Hornady factory stuff, ive actually had a hard time finding a hand load to beat Fiocchi as rifle has been really picky on what you feed it,

Re: Barrel twist for 39 gr Blitz King

My Savage 12 FV-S is a 1:12 and loves 39 SBK,s with RL 10X, Remmy 700 still working on it, so far I know what it dosnt like, So a little more thinking on it and measured it twist its between 1:12.75" to 1:13". So far only 32 vmaxs pushed really hard come close. Work in progress.

Re: Savage LRPV 204 Ruger

Tried different torque settings with stock on remmy sps, anything above 25 in lbs, would bind reciever enough could feel bolt dragging, but in process now of bedding it in thumbhole laminate, if it dosnt shoot then it may get rebarreled, I to thought it was copper fouling messing with accuracy, but ...

Re: How Many Rifles???

Just got back from eastern Oregon 5 day, trip I toulk 2 .204 Rugers a .223 remmy and 17 hmr, first 2 days of shooting slow, third day was best ever, had all four rifles smokin hot and had to quit for awhile, I did not know you could get a 17 hmr barrel that hot. The rats were plentiful from 3 yards ...

Re: Savage LRPV 204 Ruger

Picked up a used savage 12 FV-S a couple weeks ago, out of the box 39 grain SBK an RL 10-X 5 shot under 1/2" at 100 yards. I didnt think I was capable of shooting that, Had been working on my Remmy 700 SPS in 204, best so far 1 1/2" at 100 yards, its a work in progress. Little frustrating ...

Re: Savage 12 blued single shot 204 ruger

Did a little more searching for info on it, far as I can tell its a pre 2006 model, as by finding screw spacing by different generation of reciever models. Its just had never heard of a blued tupperware stock model 12 having a single shot reciever before.
