Re: Best powder for the .204 Ruger???

I use Benchmark. It is consistent and my reloads are accurate. It meters well and is easy to load with.

Re: 39g Sierra's or 35g Berger ???

I have shot 100s of prairie dogs with Sierra 39 gr BKs out of my Kimber 84M. It blows the crap out of them. Haven't shot the Bergers.

Re: 35 grain berger help

I shoot 32 gr in my Ruger #1 .204 and 39 gr in my Kimber 84M .204. Both bullets are Sierra BKs and pushed with Benchmark and Remington 7.5 BR primers.

Re: ND PD Hunt on 9-26-2014

Hey Guys, I drive 5-6 hours one way and stay with friends or in a motel. With gas it can be a bit expensive, but I can't take it with me and it's load of fun. I've taken 3 trips this year and will probably do a 4th in 2 weeks. I'm usually gone from home 3-4 days. As the weather cools here in Kansas ...

Re: what is the biggest thing

I've killed lots of coyotes with mine, almost all one shot kills. One exception, I hit a running coyote in the rear hip, which almost stopped him. The 2nd shot hit him in the neck and he went down for keeps.

Re: Rem 700 aftermarket triggers

My gunsmith installed a Shilen in my Rem 700 VSF .223. It is my favorite prairie dog rifle, but not .204. My best .204 is Kimber 84M with an adjusted Kimber trigger, it is clean and crisp at about 1.5 lbs.

Availability of .204 Brass

Have you .204 fans out there who reload had difficulty finding brass? I have about 500 .204 rounds and have reloaded them all once and some twice. Since I also shoot .223 and .17 HMR at prairie dogs, I'm not likely to run out. But, I noticed that when I looked for reloading supplies at the Tulsa gun...

Re: 32gr - V-Max vs Varmagrddon

You didn't ask about any other bullets, but thought I would offer this anyway. I shoot Sierra 32gr BKs with excellent results. P-dogs explode when I hit them dead center and the fly 10 ft when I hit them low. Plus they are the most accurate bullet I have tried. I bought a bunch back when they were r...

Re: WTB - Sierra .204 39 grain bullets

You may already do this, but log on to MidwayUSA, Natchez, Midsouth Shooters, etc. Most offer to notify you when products like this are available. I'm on the Midway "notify me" feature now waiting for this same bullet. You then have to order immediately because they sell out quickly. If yo...

Re: I hate collared doves

Here in Kansas I don't see many collared doves. My preferred location to shoot doves is NW Kansas. I've had many barrel heating experiences with mourning doves. Where I do see a few of them is always around towns, but rarely outside of towns. Is that a natural habit for them? I'm eager to shoot a fe...

Re: new .204

Congrats!! That is a very lucky find. I bought 2 Ruger #1s in .204 in the past few years, one from Cabela's in KC and the other from BassPro in Springfield, MO. In the last few months I started another search and found the .204 to be quite rare. I've looked for the following: any Cooper, Remington 7...

Re: 20 cal bullet pullers

I have a RCBS collet puller that works OK. Have not had any luck with the hammer type.. Maybe I'm not doing it right. My brother has the same puller I have. He loaded 150 rounds only to discover that he had used the wrong powder charge and had loaded them too heavily. He pulled all 150 rounds with h...

Re: Favorite Loads

My Ruger #1 likes 28 gr of Benchmark with 32 gr Sierra BKs with Rem 7.5 BR primers, which are great loads for p-dogs. I am interested in the experience of another poster who likes Bergers better for coyotes. My experience is mixed with my loads. Shot 2 yotes at close range that dropped where they st...

Re: Kimber varmint 204 as good as a cooper?

Hey...me again. I just realized that my last post was in error. I meant to address it to Rick, not Derby...sorry. Since my last post I have been to the Tulsa Gun Show and had a chance to shoulder the Kimber 84M Longmaster .223 which is the twin to Rick's .204. I am now smitten and cannot settle for ...
