Re: powder advice needed

At $70/lb, I'd want to use what I had too. I like a couple of loads with Benchmark. 24.5 gn. works great in my 24" Kimber ProVarmint. I like 26.0 gn. in my XR-100 with a 26" snout. This should give you some starting points without burning tons of powder working up the ladder. BL-C(2) didn'...

Re: Postal Shoot Excuses

I shot last Friday morning. I was looking for an easy .25" but ended up bigger than 1.5". Really windy and kinda cold. I was just too busy to pick the best day and had to shoot or not send in a target. I was going to keep the poor outing but figured I owed Wrzwaldo something for all his ef...

Re: 204 Ruger dot com Postal Shoot Info and what not.

I sent mine in too. Really rough day. Windy, target backer moving like crazy, bench not to sturdy, cold, last day to shoot, and every other excuse I can use. REALLY bad, but fun to shoot. I was hoping for about .25" and shot about 1.5". Sorry such a bad performance, but I'd be in for somet...

Re: Accuracy of 40gr Bergers vs 35gr Bergers

I'll 3rd the statement on the 39 SBK's. I shoot the 35 and 40gn. Bergers through an XR-100 and a Kimber Provarmint with pretty good success, but can't get the Noslers or the heavier V-Maxs to group for beans. The 39gn. SBK is just the thing for Prairie Dogs. It seems to have a little bigger splat fa...

Re: a ??? about 35gr bergers

I have had great luck with Benchmark and the 35gn and 40gn Berger. I used 26.0 in the 40 and 26.6 in the 35 and had terrific groups. I have since decided to use mostly the 39gn Sierra BK on the Prairie Dogs in my area though. I am revisiting the Benchmark / SBK combo. I too shoot the Remington XR-10...

skb2706: I belong to Ben Lomond Gun Club out east of Kiowa. Its a great facility with some pretty cool people. We had our open house last Saturday and I got time to shoot while giving tours of our covered 100 yard bench range. Its about 45 miles from Castle Rock, but I try to make a day of it when I...

.22-250 and Speer "TNT"

Sorry, but I had to brag on my 5 shot 100yd group shot with a FACTORY XR-100 last weekend. This was the 50 grain Speer over 34.2gn of Varget. The same bullet performed very well with 34.2gn of N140 also. I think Mr. Dog would not enjoy my results as much as I did. I have to say. That 4th and 5th sho...

I shoot both the XR-100 and a Kimber Provarmint. The XR-100 is a tiny bit more accurate. Here are some pictures of the XR-100 groups from last fall. First is 25.0 grains of Varget with the 40gn. Berger. http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m103/sdulaney/TargetPictures005.jpg This is with 26.6 grains o...

I use N140 in .22-250 and though I'd tried it in the .204. I just checked my reloading log and can't find it anywhere. Sorry.

Hey skipper, Lots of great ideas here. I had a quarter of the basement for my salt water fish setup and went from that to reloading. I used the same table built of scrap material and really like it. I had the two bar stools second hand from the folks so I made the table higher (like everyone else). ...

Acloco, Make it through the night O.K.? We got about 7 inches of snow here just south of Denver overnight. My family in Goodland had a tornado move just 5 miles east of town. Sounds like those guys down south around Amarillo and Beaver, OK got smacked pretty good. Looks like you might be out of the ...

I still use the One Shot for my volume .204 needs. I too am a fan of Imperial. After reading several posts here, I switched from the Unique to Imperial for those precision days and for my .25-06. I tried the One Shot on the bigger cases and still couldn't get a nice smooth stroke on the press. I bou...

I made a small portable tank out of some scrap stainless we had lying around. We have an ultrasonic probe that is connected to the power source by a seperate cable. The tank is 10" x 30" x 7" deep and the probe just sits in the center. I'll take some pictures an post in a bit. The coo...

Thanks for the heads up. I have a 21,000 watt ultrasonic cleaner at the shop, but it's 2'x 2'x 4' and holds around 100 gallons. It does have 10 transducers, but I think it'd take a bit too much work to change out the fluids. That is unless all you guys want to send me your brass and I could do 10,00...
