MidSouth's 34 grain Varmint Nightmare Bullet

Spent the past week in Ohio shooting my favorite varmints, groundhogs, with the MidSouth 34 grain Varmint Nightmare Bullet. After spending considerable time last year working up a load for this bullet in the Encore this trip was to be the test for the bullets effectiveness on groundhogs. On small gr...

Re: Bullet advice

75-87 grain Hornady Vmax's should work great for varmints. My 243's have 1-9 twists and shoot those bullets well. 87 vmax has a .400 B.C.

Re: 6mm BR question.

The Custom Shop Encore barrel I have in 6BR is a 1-10 twist as I believe most of their 6mm barrels are. With a 100 grain bullets you can get 2700 fps. Reloader 15 has been very consistant in both velocity and accuracy. Varget also works well.

I recently tried the Barnes Varmint Grenade bullets in my 223 TC Contender Carbine and found velocites were good and accuracy inline with other loads I have used in that rifle. I used Hornady brass, Federal 205 primers, Leupold 3-9 scope, rear bag and bi-pod front. This is out of a 16.25 inch barrel...

Greg, I bought the Frankford Arsenal Reloading Stand two years ago when I moved to a smaller home. I put it in my office that also does duty as a gun room and reloading area. It has been a good investment as I can move it anywhere in the room. The press on it is an old RCBS Jr I’ve had for 37...

Nothing wrong with the combination of gun nut and teacher. I retired from that honorable profession after 31 years. It's nice to be able to hunt and shoot no matter the time or season. See how my office has changed since I retired.

Favorite Loads

I thought that it would be great for new users coming to this web site to see what loads forum members found to be best for hunting or accuracy. This would give them a list of loads that they could work up to. If possible please include: Gun used, Bullet (brand & weight), Case, Primer, Velocity,...

Howdy from Florida

Graymist is my handle but I go by Andy as well. I am a retired school teacher who has had a lifelong passion for hunting varmints. Having lived in Ohio for the last 57 years I now own a winter home in Florida as well. It has been nice being able to shoot most any day during the winter. I am an avid ...
