Re: Seating off the lands
Thank you. I thought I had read something along those lines, but must have not searched on the correct terms. I tried. I appreciate your detailed response. Happy New Year!

Seating off the lands
My rifle is a CZ 527 varmint. So far I have not been able to satisfactorily seat bullets off the lands using case to ogive measurements. I have: Hornady OAL gauge, a Hornady Comparator, and so far I’ve tried Sierra 32 gr and Berger 35 gr. I have measured length to ogive with both bullets, many times,...

Re: Love My CZ 527 Varmint 204!
I have a couple of threads saying the same thing about mine. I cannot believe EVERYONE that shoots does not get one. I love mine. I have had great shots with 26,32,35,39, and 40 bullets. Everything so far has been lights out!

All reloads, or in this case loads with new brass. Never fired a factory.204 load.

I am only Three weeks in to .204s.
Are using small patches or do you cut regular ones down?
Any specialty ones out there?

Re: Berger 35gr. and H322~help!
Though I love Bergers in my 25-06, hso far I have been disappointed in Bergers in the 204. It appears VMAX in 32 or 40s are the ticket. I have not worked up to max loads, but mine (CZ 527) appears to like the higher loads.

Development of .204 Ruger and Choice to use 223 Magnum
I am a recent new owner of a CZ 527 Varmint in .204 Ruger. Am rapidly becoming a zealot! I also reload. I also have issues with brass at range. I can't resist brass hunting or scrounging and then converting. I love my 25-06 because I can take 30-06, 280 and 270 and convert. So...the big question: Do...

Re: Availability of .204 Brass
Just checked Gunbot. There are 7 I think vendors with .204 brass in stock as of 11:00 p.m.. What I can't find is once fired.

Re: New case cleaner - stainless steel pins
You can get superb results with a cheapo. harbor freight dual drum tumbler, SS pins, Dawn, and some liquid car wax. Does the job, you can do 80 or so cases at a time (25-06). I rinse my brass in sink. Then put cases in a towel, making a tunnel, and go at it about 4-5 minutes with hair dryer. Dries w...

This should convince you. I have posted on some other forums, so I won't bore you with the "history of rock and roll" but, in case you need convincing: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/jcinnc/204%20Ruger/VMAX32GRN_zps149b4859.jpg CZ 527 VARMINT 204 Ruger Hornady VMAX. Shots 16 - 20.

Re: CZ 527 feeding issues
I just got one, but try to reload to near lands, so I have not been able to use the mag. Next time out, I will load some to SAAMI specs and give my mag a try.

Re: Little Help With RCBS Competition Seating Die
Been there done that, get a 22cal bronze brush and chuck it in a drill. Run it in and out of the seater die with JB bore paste on it. Problem solved. I am dim as a burned out 5 watt bulb. What part of the die? The "seating section" at the top, or the little piece that moves up and down, t...

Re: Little Help With RCBS Competition Seating Die
I do chamfer and debur all cases. I put close to a hundred through this morning. I was dropping the bullets in, 26s this morning, then I would reach my big ol fat finger in and make sure the bullet would move. Never had a problem when I had a little "play" in the bullet. Several times the ...

Little Help With RCBS Competition Seating Die
Recently got a CZ 527 Varmint in .204. So fired up about it, I got a RCBS Competition Seating Die. I read the instructions and got started. Here is the issue, I am now loading Berger 35s. I would say that 5 of 6 bullets seat perfectly. But, consistently a bullet gets misaligned or jammed when I plac...
