Re: PD Hunt and sold a 204

Welcome to the addiction! I'll wager that will not be your one and only PD shoot. :D I have wanted to do this for years and even built rifles and ammo but never took the initiative to find a place or guide. Then a friend invited me and yes i will definitely go again. I have bird dogs and plan to go...

Re: ?? Re: 218 Mashburn Bee

Mine is also a Cooper. My last name is Mashburn so I just had to have one... I got it in 2007 and the data available then was pretty slim. I have not tried CFE or RL powders yet. When I first started doing load development I got better groups with the 50gr bullets. I do like the idea of lighter and ...

PD Hunt and sold a 204

Went on my first prairie dog hunt and it was fun! I shot about 600 rounds in three days - 6 hours a day. My 6x47 Lapua on a Barnard action with Lilja barrel with 70gr NBT at 3450 was very accurate and had dramatic impacts! I also shot a 223 and a 204 in ARs. The guy I went with uses a 243 and two 22...

Re: ?? Re: 218 Mashburn Bee

Obviously, work up to these loads. This is what works in MY rifle. Don't use 218 bee brass where I call for 25-20 brass... I had the best results fireforming with 25-20 WCF RP brass as described in my previous post. With 25-20 brass I use 12.7gr of IMR 4227, WSR, and a sierra 50gr bullet (1340); oal...

Re: ?? Re: 218 Mashburn Bee

I have the same rifle and a lot of data and fire forming experience - btw not all is good experience... First Google is your friend. I found most everything by searching. I do have P.O. Ackleys book which gives some data and a magazine article on the round. I have used 25-20 Winchester brass (Winche...

Re: Oversized chamber

Maybe 100 pcs. of Norma brass. I will probably not shoot it mostly because I don’t want a piece of brass stuck in the chamber when the head comes of one and the prairie dogs are laughing at me!

Re: Oversized chamber

they are replacing the barrel. They had an oversized reamer and mine is the third one they have found.
So with 0.010" stretch @0.25" from the head, should I reload this brass?
Any speculation on how long it will last and where it will fail?

Oversized chamber

I had an issue with sizing my 204 Ruger brass (actually shaved some metal off the case) so I sent the die and two fired cases to Forster. They called and said they polished the feed on the die but my brass was 6 thousands over size! They stated the rifle may not be safe like this. I plan to call the...

Re: .204 Ruger Popularity?

I can't really address overall popularity, but I can say I did a lot of research for a 20 caliber and when it came to readily available Ar barrel, ammo, and brass without a forming hassle, the 204 won easily. I bought a box of ammo at my local gun shop and he said that was the first box he sold! (He...
