Re: M-77 Hawkeye Predator range results

My preferred chemicals are: Shooters Choice w/30% mix Kroil for carbon and powder clean up, and good old CR-10 for that stubborn copper clean up. I have tried a number of different cleaners over the years I have been shooting, but I always went back to above mentioned chemicals. I also like to treat...

Re: Tell us about yourself...

Welcome to the 204um. If you are still looking for a funnel, Go to Sinclair Int'l. Saturn makes one that is dedicated by caliber, or better still try Brad @ Custom reloading tools. Best set-up I have found for powder dropping. Same funnel works for almost any caliber just by changing the bottom of t...

Re: Reloads for .204 ruger.

I see some of the charges people use 27.7 gr is halfway up the neck on my casing. 27.7grs sounds a little hot for the 204R, depending on the powder you are using. A little more info would be helpful. You will have to work up your own recipe for your loads. One load that is safe for one rifle, may n...

Re: Trimming brass

I am guessing, you are talking 204R. Your brass in the 204 does not stretch much, unless you are loading "HOT" If you don't have a caliper, get one. A caliper is the only way to get an accurate measurement, other than a micrometer, to check the length of said brass. No need to tr...

Re: Squirrels around Yreka?

Kevin, hope we can get out and do some rat blasting when you're back in action. I still haven't had a chance to shoot with any of my friends here, which is frankly deplorable. :) Hi Dan. I plan on being back in action real soon! Big thing is the weather, the fields are really wet right now. Things ...

Re: Howa 1500 accuracy issues!

Sounds like the bullets are the biggest problem. Most 204's won't shoot the 40 grain pills worth a darn. I am not familiar with ADI powders. I would try some 39gr. Sierra Blitz Kings. Also try varying your seating depth. My Howa loves the 39's. I did have to seat the bullets as close to the lands as...

Re: Scope for .204!

Keep in mind that the Leupolds are made in the good ol USA, and a lifetime guarantee. I have personal experience with their guarentee. Very good customer service, which is very hard to find anymore, and very easy to customize, if you want too. My choice was VXII 6-18x40.with the varmint hunter retic...

Re: Squirrels around Yreka?

Bodei is correct. I live in Weed, and often drive to Yreka to do some shopping. The mounds you see in the fields around these parts are either gopher or ground squirrel mounds. If there were beldings that close to me, believe me, I would definatly know about them. I drive approximately 50 miles NE t...

Really gets my blood flowin, Rick! Absolutely great slo-mo's! Looks like you guys had a great outing with Skippy. Right now, its taking too long for me to be able to get out with a rifle, but I am getting there, slow but sure. Thanks for keeping me entertained tho. Really enjoy the stories and...

Re: Issue Sighting in .204

I read that calibers smaller than .22 often have an issue with carbon build up and to clean them really good with J-B Bore Cleaning compound. I don't have any yet, but I ran a bore snake through it 15+ times last night, with Outers Gun Oil and then Rem Oil on it. . All the info from the previous po...

TO all who sent well wishes for my recovery! I am back at home, after a while spent in the hospital. I am on the mend, but looking at some physical therapy for a while longer. I found out that my kidnys are not doing what they are supposed to do! Currently I am feeling a whole lot better after start...

Re: Winchester brass

When I first purchased my 204, about 8yrs ago now, I started out using Win brass. Right off the bat I started having problems with said brass, I had 600 pieces of the Win brass, so I was reluctant to try some other brass. I did get some RP brass, and took care of problems I was having with the Win b...

Re: 9-11-2015 PD Outing

I had found some interesting rocks when I was on a PD shoot back on July 31 and forgot them in the shade where I had parked my pickup. I decided to stop by that dog town and pick up those rocks so that took me a good half hour out of my way. Hey SF, seems you really wanted those rocks. Must be purd...

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

My problem with these loads is that I had to load them into my Savage 12FV one at a time as the hollow point of the bullet would hang up on the face of the chamber, I couldn't load them from the magazine. I'm wondering of this is a function of bullet seating depth or if my rifle doesn't like these ...

Re: Scope Leveling

Hi Jim D, get your hands on a catalog from Sinclair. In their newest catalog, dated 2015-A, look on pages 211 for rings w/levels made right in the rings, good for making sure your rifle is level when shooting. As for getting a scope aligned, I use the the scope alignment tool on page 215, top left o...
