Re: Anyone shot the New Varmageddons yet???

Pred: As for their quality compared to the 'regular' BT's.........are you kidding? Rick, I wasn't meaning that the Ballistic Tips were not a quality bullet. Maybe I didn't explain it well in my post as I'm not great at explaining what I mean. I was just curious if they(the varmageddons) were held to...

Anyone shot the New Varmageddons yet???

My rifle really likes the sierra 39gr but these are really tempting for the price. Looks like a nice bullet. Just worried that if nosler is selling them cheaper than BT there must be a reason. Is the tolerances not as good?

Re: How do you load flat based bullets?

TP, if you are using the Lee seater than yes you may need to shamfer the seating stem. I did on mine as posted in the link that jlc204 posted. I just used a countersink tool and spun it by hand. Didn't take much and now it works great. You should be good to go if you do this and get a VLD tool.

Re: How do you load flat based bullets?

According to Lee dies instructions, which is what I use, you add a 1/4 turn after contact is felt. There is no crimp on "most 204 die sets." Only dies that use a crimp would adjust as Ol Joe advised. By adding a 1/4 turn after contact you are taking up any slack in the press and thus achei...

Re: How do you load flat based bullets?

TP, no need to go to the trouble of using some tubing. Don't let the idea of chamfering the case mouth scare you either as it is required. Obviously the RCBS is not doing its job and yes you should use a VLD tool. If you don't want to spend alot just pick up a cheap Lyman VLD tool for around $9 and ...

Re: Question about the Berger 40gr Varmint BT

Well, I don't know how they would perform on fox but I can tell you they shoot good out of my CZ. From the sounds of it, doesn't sound like "Alot" of guys are liking the 40gr BTHP. I know I can switch 39gr Blitzkings and 40gr Bergers and groups are great with either and they impact the sam...

Re: 39 gr blitz kings trouble grouping

Sounds like the Varget is wanting to shoot. Play with seating depth if you have room. Also, remember, some of these groups you "hear" about are on the computer and may be the best group they have shot and not the norm.So don't don't take for granted that everyone is shooting groups int he ...

Re: First Loads with the 204!

Sorry, should of mentioned it was CZ Varmint with the 25.6" barrel and a 12 twist. These groups were shot at 100yds. If you didn't notice, the one on the right was 6 shots. I started out at 27.0 grs and went up in .2 increments.

First Loads with the 204!

Finally got all the components to load for the 204R. I actually tested my loads in some Hornady brass from some factory loads I had fired. I picked up some new Winchester brass yesterday and prepped it all, with a few concerns, and loaded up the same load I had tried in the Hornady brass. So, these ...

Re: Do Noslers take a back seat to ??

Thanks so far guys. Kinda what I was thinking bu as one poster said, there seemed to be an aura around the 39gr Blitzkings which is why I tried them. After reading alot of the post on here I just wasn't "Feeling" the Noslers so I didn't try em. I wasn't meaning that nosler makes 2nd rate b...

Re: The perfect loading setup

Well, I would advise to buy good equipment from the start. Trust me, you'll end up upgrading later on so buy good stuff the first time.

This ain't quImageite as elaborate as Rick in Oregon posted but this is my set-up.

Do Noslers take a back seat to ??

I have only been a member for a short time and have done alot of searching and reading. I have noticed that Sierras seem to be the bullet that sticks out when you read alot of the post. And it seems that the Hornady 40 is a bullet that alot of guns won't shoot. I purposely steered away from these tw...

Re: Problems with Lee Seater Die!

I think its producing fairly consistent loads. Today was my first time ever loading for the 204 and my 4th load produced a 10 shot group of.500 with the CZ.

Re: Problems with Lee Seater Die!

Put a slight chamfer on the seating stem and loaded about 20 rounds today and it worked great. Hopefully its fixed.
