What a great story and good fortune to find another target rich environment to play with big boy toys in!
So how do you like the suppressor? Do you feel that it gives you an advantage for the shorter shots and over all effectiveness on prairie dogs?

Re: Scope Leveling
I have tried the Wheeler Level, level level with poor results. I am looking for some bar stock that will fit in the action, where the bolt slides on. I will put a level on the bar stock and on top of the scope turret. I saw this on the G7 show.

Re: Savage questions
Wirelessguy, you have my interest. What all is involved in forming the 20 Nitro case? Are there dies for less than $340 for just a seating die?

Re: 20VT & 221FB Fun in the Rat Patch
What a nice way to end the sage rat season. Great looking rifles to do it with as well. It has been over 100 for several days at my domain. It is getting so dry I am concerned about practicing long range shooting due to a fire hazard. Great pictures and good shooting. Thanks for sharing.

Re: My new toy!
The 6.5 and 6mm Creedmoor has been gaining popularity with competition shooters. The neck is a bit longer.
Check out this site, look around, it covers scopes, gunsmiths, rests, etc.

Re: Savage questions
I would try a different powder if your rifle shoots VMaxs OK. I load 39 grain Sierra Blitzkings, Rem 7 1/2BR primers and H4895 powder in my two 204 Savages with great accuracy. My Savages are more accurate at 26.0 grains of H4895 powder, which is about 1 1/2 grains under max load.Try seating your bu...

Re: SHORT Nosler .204 brass
I just got 100 204 blemished Nosler brass. Thanks for the heads up on the blems! They look great to me. They were averaging 1.830 in length rather than the 1.84 trim length standard.

Re: Prairie Doggin' in God's Country
Lucky guy to have access to a target rich environment like that, all to yourselves!  I was going to Montana tomorrow, BUT they are having rain and thunder storms!!  Hope to try it in June. It is a 12 hour drive for me. You can see the damage that the prairie dogs are doing. Y...

Re: Redding Dies
I have a set of Forster dies for my 204, with micrometer seating die. I have bent the deprimer spindle twice now. I am waiting for my Redding full length bushing die and bushing to arrive now. I too have had great luck with Redding type S bushing dies. Brownells had them in stock a few days ago. I h...

Re: Lee dies...which set?
I prefer Redding S type dies, they use collets. You do not need to crimp when using collets. I help a lot of new reloaders at the store I work at. There is no problem using different brand reloading components in your common press. I tried a Lee die several years ago and did not get good results so ...

Re: silencer (suppressor) ?
If you get the trust, then you do not have to get the local law enforcement background check, which is most of the wait. Get the suppressor for your hearing, I am right behind you on that train.

Re: Howdy from Salt Flat, Texas !
Welcome aboard to a great place to talk shooting. You will love the Savage 204, they are great! Hook up your seat belt, the critters are going to have a rough landing ahead! If you will be reloading, try the 39 grain Sierra Blitzkings. My Savage 204s love 26.0 grains of H4895 powder and Remington 7 ...

Re: Members Meet.....Skippy Flies
Yes Oregon requires an out of state hunting license to shoot sage rats, unless you are an agent of the land owner. Better get in writing to save yourself problems. Last time I checked it was about $140.
