Re: New to the forum- new to the 204
You are correct I think about touching the lands especially in my shilen barreled ar. I have been loading to 2.260 oal and a couple thou under. they are shooting well. The ar mag works fine at max oal. You may touch the lands with the longer bullets in a bolt action204? IE 50 grain Bergers and perha...

Re: i think so hornady superformance, 204
I agree like i said i am sure i would try some test loads with it. You are correct that faster accurate fight helps with distance. I wasnt trying to argue and I hope it didnt come off that way. I am all over something new that works. I have not tried Hornady factory loads yet. I guess I should but I...

Re: anyone reload for fast-twist barrels?
I have same barrel on my ar. Look up load data and start at lowest charge. with dog town bullets it worked best in my barrel. load three to five rounds in half grain increments up to max load. See what shoots the best. I can give you my best loads for 4 bullets, but it is pointless as all barrels sh...

Re: New to the forum- new to the 204
I like imr 4895, and also am leaning more toward 10x. I just wish alliant would get on the band wagon and post some 204 load data! So far the 10x seems to be shooting a touch tighter than the 4895. 4895 is a old powder and a reliable one I shoot it in my 308 and 22-250 as well. I have been warned to...

Re: Twist rate for 50 & 55 grain bullets
I just finished a ar 15 with a 1 in 9 twist Shilen bull barrel. I did load work ups for 40 grain Hornady v max, 34 grain midway usa dogtown bullets" Cheap excellent for barrel break in I thought" 32 Grain v maxs and 26 grain vmax With the right load all for bullets shot fine, Excellent I t...

Re: i think so hornady superformance, 204
You may be on to something? I really dont care much about loseing a couple hundred feet per second. I think to many loaders worry about muzzle velocity than accuracy. Some high volume max loads can shoot well in some barrels and bad in others! I shoot the loads that group the best. for hunting and b...

I found a deal on the Barska 4x16x50 sniper scope. Mil dot with green alluminated in low light. Target turrets etc. Has anyone tried one of these? Awfull cheap at 100.00 bucks. I was wondering if the hold zero? I doubt it but if you have insight please let me know. Thanks Kent

Re: loads for .204?
Check load data charts start at the min load and work up in .5 grain increments. One load will out shoot them all! Every barrel and gun is a little different. You can try someone elses pet load and it may hit perfect., but it is doubtfull if it will be the best load for your barrel. This holds true ...

Re: Help on dies which to buy
I use cheapo lee dies. They have worked great for me in all my guns. I loaded varmit grenades and did load workup last weekend. My best load for the shot 4 shot group at .428 Not bad for a ar 15. I am shooting a 1 in 9 twist on this gun so it is considered a fast twist for the VG bullet. But it and ...

Re: First time using dry lube
I use a rcbs case lube pad with lee resizing lube. Never a problem . I tried rcbs lube and it was way to greasy! The lee case lube works awsome.

Re: DPMS LR-204
I just built a ar 15 204 Ruger. 750.00 on a maybe would not get it for me. I built the midway usa ultimate ar. I found a local ffl to get me a Rock River stripped lower. Waited and bought dpms lower parts kit on sale. Later standard stock and buffer tube kit. Recently the rest of the upper, Model on...

Re: Loading 204 for ar 15
I have shot over a hundred and fifty rounds now through the ar. I am like you it seemed as the bullets were seating plenty snug. So far they have all fired accurate and consistent. I have no broblems with bullets being to loose. I just didnt know if crimp was needed, and it isnt. Thanks
