Re: Redding Bushing Size Survey

Thanks ray! I have made my bullet choices based on a simple formula.......those with the highest BC win! I have tried bergers and Vmax's and VG's but to me the BK is the best all around choice in my gun anyway. My bro inlaw's ruger 77/VT loves Vmax's and varget. Heading out tonight to see if the bun...

Re: choosing a bullet and powder for .204 please help

Valid point no noneck. Those low BC bergers and other similar bullets are great to about 300 yards on a calm day. When the wind picks up and the ranges get longer there really is only 1 choice in my mind. My bro inlaws ruger loves the 40 grain Vmax and my remington gobbles up BK's VERY well. Was try...

Re: Redding Bushing Size Survey

Thank you. I have been having consistancy issues with my 10X load I have chosen to hunt with for the winter so I decided it was time to revisit an old friend in benchmark. Think the load for winter yotes' has officially changed......LOL!

Re: loads for .204?

39 grain BK all the way! It is my favorite bullet in this caliber. Not concerned about hide damage just knocking them down amd so far it is working for me!

Re: loads for .204?

I would not go down to 32's for yotes either. I feel, with a good shot the 39's and 40's are very capable of dumping yotes' out to 500 yards because I have done it. Neglected to bring the chrony out on sunday so i have no idea how fast this load is running. The other one that showed real promise was...

Re: loads for .204?

Image There is an example of sundays load work. Also had a rather hot benchmark load with the 39 grain sierra@ 26.3 grains. Not as accurate but I sure the velocity is up there.

Re: loads for .204?

Benchmark and RL-10X are my 2 top powders of choice in my remington VSF. A recent experiment with Varget was also very pleasing. RL-15 also proved to be consistant in my gun. The first 2 mentioned are a favorite in this forum. I personelly have never had any sucess with H4895 in several rifle in 204...

Re: choosing a bullet and powder for .204 please help

My top 3 favorite powders for the 204 in no particular order are RL-10X, Benchmark and Varget. All produce superb accuracy and top velocities! My remington VSF prefers sierra bullets (both weights) over any other kind but shoots them all very well. Start your load work with benchmark and 10X with a ...

Re: First 204

I have a remington VSF in 204 and the gun has been a winner! Shot factory ammo horribly but I was just trying to get rid of it anyway. Once the handloads came online things changed drastically. Most anything I throw at it gets me 1/2" or better 5 shot groups. The gun prefers RL-10X or benchmark...

Re: M77 204 Report

My bro in law just bought a 77VT in 204, uses 40 grain vmax's and varget and this thing is a real SHOOTER! The gun appears to HATE barnes VG's. I gave him some of my ammo using various bullets and powders and the bloody thing just shoots great. Going to be a tough winter with 2 rifles in 204 in the ...

Re: new remington 700 and 40 grain v max not grouping at 100 yds

Used to work at cabellas and sold a guy the exact same gun and it was nothing but trouble! I also own a remington VSF in 204 and it shoots all 39's and 40's very well, Try the 39 grain BK, should be fine.
