Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

Exactly and well said Skipper. We just have to trust each other also, and shoot for fun, more than anything else. The one to beat and top is yourself, as TK mentions.

Re: I had an unwelcome visitor last night...

Over the years and even now around the old cabin up here on the mountain I trap one here and there in a live trap. If I can get a good clear shot at it without getting the critter excited, I will shoot it in the head/brain with the 17HMR. Quick and they usually don't spray. Back when I worked LE in ...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

Rick it was a very good one. The little dime size bullseye was kind of faded into the body and made it a challenge to see at 100 yrds. But it was the best one yet, as for my opinion. I just wished more that sign on would have shot for score. That part was disappointing, I thought, with all the effor...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

Was that the target Skipper called "The Ghost Target" ? That was a good one. I thought I shot poorly on it, but was very surprised when Skipper said I won. I thought for sure someone would make a better group than what I did on that one. Just hope when this up coming shoot takes place, a g...

Re: The plunk test

That struck me the same way. I have and have owned Rem 700's for years, even a couple in ADL models and have never had any issues with them, but they are and have been bought from about 20 years back. And remember some very fine sniper rifles, used by well known shooters used them, when they were in...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

I would be shooting either my trusty old and accurate 204 R or the 22 PPC I am working on now and it seems to be shooting very well. :D

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

Sounds good Skipper, I enjoyed your " 5 on a dime" shoots, this would fill the void and maybe more would jump on board and post a target/group. Under stan the target would be scored, center to center on group by shooter, a photo posted of it and others could also then score and check measu...

Re: Decapping.and.FL sizing. 242cases

Fron what I have read and put out by some of the best shooters, is that they full size all their ammo, but adjust the sizing die so it just touches the shoulder without set back for a given rifle/chamber. And only set the should back when it becomes necessary to do so, when the case begins to show s...

Re: Barrel Twist 17HM2

I am going to venture a guess, that from what I see in the benefit of a 1/11 twist over the 1/12 twist in the 20 cal, for the most part being able to still get better results with the over 40 gr yet still work very well with the 32 gr bullets, that the effect might well be the same in using a 1/8 in...

Re: Quiet as a Mouse Around Here

Rick, I for one do not believe you are wasting your time with your photos. I just enjoy seeing the one's you post, the areas your hunt and of course the acrobatic creatures shown. I try to inject some photos also, here and there and wish more would also, along with info/comments on their hunt/shoot....

For sure. Maybe more are waiting for spring and more varmints to shoot and take photos of and then post. But in the meantime it sill is nice to keep some posts and information being seen to follow and comment on. :)

Re: Quiet as a Mouse Around Here

I really don't have a answer as to how to get more members to comment/post on anything. Seems to me that as I check in every day as some do, all I see in posting is about the same 4-5 people. Eithers are busy or just don't have to add to the posts or conversations, no matter what the content is. So,...

Re: A new hope-

I bought a Hornady case trimmer 3 yrs ago and with the use of the adaptor and a small drill it is the cats meow to make trimming so easy and fast, as well as accurate in trim setting. :D
