Re: savage 93btvs

I shoot a 22mag- an Anschutz 1720. It doesn't like the 50grainers too much from what I remember. The 30gr V-Max loads make bug holes at 50yds, and the 40gr CCI loads will shoot 1" at 100yds. I got the mag right before the hmr came out. Most hmr's will outshoot a 22mag as far as accuracy is conc...

I'd put in some taters too if I were you...always an easy crop and fun to grow. I prefer the reds and Yukon Gold.

Re: Groundhog crawl aways with .204..

Think of it like real estate- it's all about shot placement, shot placement, shot placement. If you hit em with a 10 grain pellet in the right spot- it'll drop em. I speak from many years of experience with air rifle hunting. If I hit an adult buck ground squirrel in the heart/lung he'll make it to ...

Re: Primers

Just wondering, what will you do with the info.? I use #71/2's for my 204, but prefer 400's for my 223cal and 221fireball as they give better accuracy. Interesting how that works. Hotter may give more velocity, but not always better accuracy-in my experience.

Midsouth Shooters has them, last I checked, for $94.69 for 500.

Re: Groundhog crawl aways with .204..

I've never shot those critters, only ground squirrels. Rest assured however, they never come back out of their dens. They are mortally wounded. You are doing nothing wrong. I've seen squirrels make it to their holes with half their entrails dragging behind them. No way they survived such wounds.

Re: Barrel Break-in

[quote="Zeus"]I gave the whole barrel break in thing a shot. It didn't seem like it was worth the time and effort. Aint that what I said in an earlier post. I'd rather spend time finding a good shootin load than cleaning a barrel when it don't really need it. It's like passin gas then pull...

Re: My first .204 ruger

Like I said in my earlier reply-you gotta load yer own. Some guns will shoot factory stuff pretty good, but for the most part, if you are looking to shoot those tiny sub moa groups you just gotta break down and do some hand loading. I'd start with some Winchester brass, Remington #71/2 primers, 10x ...

Re: Bald Eagle

Geese are big and tough. They'd give one heck of a fight to even the biggest eagle. Perhaps the baldies are just looking for dead or dying honkers, or looking to see if they are beginning to lay eggs so they can steal one now and again.

Re: My first .204 ruger

My thinking-barrel break in vs hand loading. Hand loading wins hands down for shrinking groups. So if its groups size I am confronting, I'd much rather spend my time reloading than scrubbing a barrel(which may or may not do it the good you are looking to accomplish). Let the process of shooting do t...

Finally gettin wet

Kalifornia's been drier'n a popcorn fart lately. Woke up to some decent rain fer a change. So what if it ruins my shootin day. It gives the furbags some green stuff to munch.
