Re: Bald Eagle

Sorry I don't have any pics. This thread goes right along with my last one. Living here in Central California we don't have a lot of eagles, but I do see a pair of Goldens near a spot I shoot-they are huge, gorgeous birds. The Baldies are showing up more and more all the time in the hills and lakes ...

Shooting's unexpected pleasures

Not until I rediscovered the joys of shooting(and fishing) did I begin to witness some of the wildlife that I may have never otherwise gotten a chance to enjoy. When I go out shooting vermin, I tend to sit quietly and often have times when my guns are at rest, I've enjoyed the company of such critte...

Re: Sako varmint stainless

Cactus, What do you mean when you say it is not as accurate as it's supposed to be? What size groups does it shoot/at what distance? What loads have you tested through it? Sometimes even the best guns are persnickity about what they like to eat, so maybe you just need to do some judicious load devel...

I have a Nikon Monarch LNIB 4-16x42SF BDC for sale if anyone is interested. It looks as good as if it has never been used.

Re: newbe case lube question

Fishinbob, Never heard of neck sizing dies having problems with stuck brass before. What brand are you using? For neck sizing I would recommend Lee collet dies. Just make certain your necks are clean prior to sizing and you'll likely not have any stuck cases again. I have had my share of stuck cases...

Mixed day at range

Went the range yesterday. Had a few loads to try out, some new, some tried and true. First load tested was shot @ 100yds to see how 27.1gr of 2230c behind 40gr V-Max's in Winchester, neck sized 223cal brass, with an COAL of 2.30" would compare with crimped vs non crimped. For this bullet/powder...

Re: Custom Reloading Tools

Ditto, I recently ordered and received in a very a timely fashion a funnel kit and a chamfer tool-both of which I am quite pleased with. Yesterday I spent about ten minutes on the phone with him discussing the two bolt handles I just ordered as well as the 221 brass. He has a keen sense of propietor...

Re: Sako varmint stainless

Anybody ever compare the Sako to the Cooper? I got a feeling it comes out to six of one, half a dozen of another.

Re: Shooting in the field?

Joked about taking my bass boat out from which to shoot. While up on the trailer, we'd sit 5ft up, on nice comfy, swivel seats, a cooler and carpeting at our feet. When we're done shootin for the day, just put everything in the lockboxes, and we're good to go. Heck, if we're in the mood, just keep a...

Re: Winchester Brass

My Hornady book gives completely different max loads for 748 powder with a 50gr jacketed .224 bullet than my Lee book. I took for granted that the info was accurate and loaded 28 gr with a 50gr V-Max...ended up in the ER to have gunpowder removed from my cheek and bridge of my nose. I was using #400...

Shooting in the field?

I notice most of you fellers shoot from a bench in the field. I only shoot from sticks as does my shooting buddy. We are exclusive to the Kalifornia ground squirrel and since those guys don't like sittin still for any appreciable period of time, it makes me wonder how you track your prey when out sh...
