Hey DD: I recognize that country! Sounds like you had a grand time. Great looking kitty too. Sure is great to get away for a few days and enjoy the wide open spaces we have. There's one thing my buddies from back east don't realize; our desert is NOT boring! You never know what critter you'll run i...

Humm, 16 deer with the 204 Ruger? Let's see, the 204 was introduced in 2004, and that's about three deer seasons ago. How many deer are you allowed to shoot down there in south TX?

It appears further conversation on this subject is moot. Bye now.

It appears YOU ran after being hit? It also appears that you lack much hunting experience (no flame, as you're probably just young), and it also apears you have the total lifetime experience of two calibers, and about the same amount of deer under your belt. To say the .243 Win is the best caliber o...

If you check a few posts back, you'll see that most of the ethical hunters/shooters here all agree that the 204 is a varmint cartridge , and was never intended for shooting deer. Sure, a .22LR will kill a deer, but that's not what it's all about. Be an ethical hunter, and use appropriate calibers fo...

WP: Holy crap!! $42????? You're right, not much there in terms of materials. He's getting pretty proud of those babies. I know what you mean, and eventually, I'll make another one too with small/more even holes.

No wonder Todd can build all those cool custom rifles!

Hawkeye Joe .....I'd say it's time to anneal the remaining cases, and that way you can not scrap the entire batch. I've used the Series II Annealing Tip from the Woodchuck Den for the last five years, and it has made all my annealing MUCH easier, and much more consistent to boot. Cost is about $15....

Ryan, a Radio Shack and Grainger catalog, and you're all set. Not as hard as you'd think, and way less dinero if you're on a budget.

Sounds like a smart young lad like yourself would have fun doing it anyway. :D

Bad Dad: I know this thread started about budget scopes, but I've just gotta chime in...... Reading all this about you guys trying to find decent glass for less or about three bills reminds me of my own trials and tribulations back in the 'old days' when I was in the same fix. If I had added up all...

I'm with you all the way craigyboy, and fully understand your plight. I'm from British Columbia myself, and the idiotic gun laws up there are what made me come here, as the ones there, although not quite as bad as yours there, are still so restrictive, that no gun lover can really live with them, es...

craigyboy: You are correct, sir, in all respects. The monetary fact is though, is that the euro scopes you mention are all priced at least a full third to half again of what we get our Leupold's for here. Most guys on this forum are putting together or shooting varmint rifles primarily, and the cos...

I'm still using my original lot of 500 WW cases without any problems whatever. No rejects at all. All cases have been match prepped but no neck turning, and none have been annealed. To date, some have been fired and re-neck sized 3 times without any failures of any kind. The necks were all uniform w...

janneuf: Not really, but that principle is a military dictum that says basically that any wounded man must be attended by two other combatants to remove him from the field of battle, thereby removing THREE men from the conflict. But we would always much rather kill our enemy than wound him. If kill...
