Re: Clean or dirty?
Every rifle barrel is a bit different, What may work in one rifle may not be the best for an other. I have clean barrel and dirty barrel shooters. It is also the reason for reloading, my pet load for my 204 Ruger my not be the best for you rifle. The only way to know what you rifle will do is shoot ...

Re: acccuracy?
I get 0.5 of an inch 100 yard five shot groups with a Ruger 77 T V Gray rifle with a Leupold 6-18 x scope w/AO. The 32 Gr V-Max bullet B.C. 0.210 at a muzzle velocity of 3,900 ft/sec is sited in at 200 yards. I entered the data into a ballistics program and got the following. At 300 Yds the bullet w...

Re: Burris scopes
If you are going out prairie dog shooting go for a scope with not less than 14x or higher than 18X. If you are going to call in varmints the 3-9 X scope will give you the feild af view for close shots. For prairie dog shooting I have Leupold 6-18 X scope with AO on my 204 Ruger rifle. I have two 6.5...

Re: Guns kill children says the History Channel
We who enjoy the shooting sports should do our best to keep our firearms in a secure location so that kids and others can not use them. New laws will not help , but we must controll the firearms we own.

Re: NOT .204, but NEW 20 gr. Nosler FB HP .172 caliber bullets
I had a bunch of Hornady 25 Gr HP .172 bullets on hand for my Sako 17 Rem rifle when I got a 17 Fireball rifle last year. When shooting a few prairie dogs with the 17 Fireball at 280 Yds the 25 Gr bullet did not cause much splatter. When I run out of the 25 Gr bullets I give the 20 Gr Nosler and Hor...

Re: first time bedding a rifle
With groups less than 1/4 inch do not try to glass bed it . Your Remington 204 Ruger shooting 32 Gr bullets with that small a group is not common. I have gotten new and used Remington rifles that would shoot about 1 1/2 inch and larger five shot 100 Yd groups. The rifles were given a tune up which a...

Re: another 221 fireball question
The action with about two inches of the barrel has ben glass bedded, the rest of the barrel is free floated, the trigger pull has ben set at about 2 3/4 Lbs, and a gunsmith has lapped the bolt locking lugs on the Remington 700 LS 221 Fireball rifle with a Burris 4-16 X scope. I may get a Boyd Thumbh...

Re: 2008 plans?
Is the rifle custom made ?What type of scope is on the 2000 Yard rifle ? Can the rifle do 1/4 inch five shot groups at 100 yards. What is the ft/lb of energy that the bullet have at 2000 Yds ? How do you plan on preventing gut shots at 2000 Yds ?

Re: another 221 fireball question
I shoot the 17 Fireball, 221 Fireball, 223 Rem and 22 Hornet. I use 19.0 Gr of Benchmark powder with the 25 Gr HP bullet in the 17 Fireball case. My load for the 221 Fireball is 18.6 Gr of Re7 powder with the 40 Gr V-Max bullet. 27.0 Gr of Win 748 is used in the 223 case with a 52 Gr Match bt bullet...

Re: Trigger pull
I set my varmint and big game rifles trigger pull at 2 3/4 to 3 pounds. I have a few cheep 22 rimfires that are around five pounds that I have not worked on. When shooting off of a bench rest with sand bag rests front and rear I get horizontal groups when the trigger pull is over three pounds.

Re: Free Float Barrel
It takes a 1/16 inch allen wrench to adjust the new Remington X Mark Pro Trigger pull. Out of the box my Rem Mdl 700 CDL SF had a five pound trigger pull. I turnd out the trigger pull adjustment screw untill the pull was at 2 3/4 pounds. DO NOT MESS WITH THE SCREW IN THE BACK OF THE TRIGGER , it adj...
