Re: Factory Ammo OAL/Head Space?

I suspect if you take a bullet "comparator" and measure your cartridges you`ll find they are all very close to the same length from base to ogive, which is the important number if the COL from base to bullet tip allows the cartridge to fit the magazine to start with. Bullet tips are notori...

Re: resizing 7mm-08 brass to .260

Anything in the 4350/R19/R17 burn range with a 120 gr bullet seems to group 5 shots in a MOA or better from my Kimber M84 or M700 @100yd. R17 gives me the best velocities by a smiggen. Niether rifle likes the heavier bullets as well as the lighter 120s or less. The 100 gr Partition is a good one to ...

Re: STOCK TO ACTION BOLT TORQUE QUESTION

ANYONE KNOW THE "IN LBS" TORQUE SETTING FOR A STEEL BOLT INTO ALUMINUM BEDDING RAIL. I HAVE A SAVAGE 12 FCV , I E-MAILED SAVAGE ABOUT IT LAST MONTH AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REPLY. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT THANKS BRIAN The aluminum rail I believe is simply an epoxied in place plate that the ...

Re: resizing 7mm-08 brass to .260

When I 1st got my 260 there was no brass or ammo for that matter available in stores and I resized 708 to make the 1st batch of brass for it. All that is needed is to run a 708 case in a 260 FL die. 243 brass can be necked up with a 260 die too. BTW Midway, Graf, Widners, and MidSouth all have Nosle...

Re: Tell me about primers!

I`ve used Winchester, CCI 400, Federal 205m, and Rem 71/2 primers in various loads in both the 223 and 204 finding they all work well depending on the load and rifle I`m shooting at th time. You might find a CCI gives the best resuplt with a 40gr bullet and H44895 in your 203 but, a WSR does better ...

Re: newbe case lube question

I had a Lee collet die that hung up on occasion when sizing and ended up polishing a couple burrs off the collet and hoseing it down with carb cleaner to remove old manufacturing crud then relubing with a dab of Rigg grease. That has cured the problem so far. As already atated, you should not have t...

I use Pro Shot jags and brushes on mine. Midway lists the thread size of the various tips and rods in the product description IIRC.

Re: Still getting one flyer

If you can drop a bullet in a fired case without needing to apply some pressure you probably won`t see any gain from neck turning. Unless the assembled cartridge neck is closer then 0.003" of a fired case neck diameter you are wasting your time and probably causing more working of the necks dur...

Re: Case lube question.

I use Imperial and apply it by rolling a dab in my palm and taking 3-4 cases at a time and rolling them in my hand with my fingers as I work the press applies enough to lube.. I`ve found that just handling the brass after rolling a few gets enough lube on them to prevent sticking. If you use one of ...

Re: How many reloads?

jo191145 Hunter is in the R19/IMR4831 burn range and not too slow. I`ve used R22 and H4831 in my 6.5x284 with 100 and up bullet wts but never pressed them. Both are slower then Hunter. Ramshot uses the slower Magnum in the 264 Mag with 85gr bullets and according to their web site did not make 3700 f...

Re: How many reloads?

And just for Ha Ha's How fast you shootin them 85 Sierras in your 6.5x55 bowshot? I've got a bunch of discontinued 85gn Bergers I bought dirt cheap to burn up some factory barrels that could'nt shoot well with normal fare. After seeing my first ladder test with 85's in one of them tubes I ordered a...

Re: Anyone shot the New Varmageddons yet???

I tried a few of the 32gr I picked up from Grat a few weeks back, but my rifle doesn`t seem to think much of them. That isn`t saying a lot though, this rifle is the most finicky thing I own when it comes to bullets. If it isn`t a 39gr Sierra or 35gr Berger it shotguns instead of groups them.

Re: Thompson/Center Venture Predator Bolt Action Rifle .204

Are you planning on toting this rifle or shooting off a stand or bench?
Personally, I`d go with the Savage unless you plan on a lot of walking. Neither rifle is a bad choice IMHO though
