Re: How about it?

There is ~ 0.20" of headspace difference in the two cases, 1.2645" vs 1.4636" @ datum. I personally wouldn`t even think of trying to use the short 222 case.

Re: Heard a rumor...

If loaded ammo is out there, who is making the guns? I'm guessing Cooper's got one, or at least will make one to order. How much powder and what choice of bullets will be available I wonder? Just when I thought my safe had seen its last new occupant :wall: http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/2...

Re: accuracy vs velocity

I consider my crony an important tool in my load development, but will never put an extra 100 fps over top accuracy.
The price of chronograph today puts them within anyones reach, and is something every serious reloader should strongly considerer owning

Re: Starting out with a 204

O J, Thanx for the pictures...we like pictures!! My xr-100 is set up exactly the same as yours including Nikon scope. Have you overcome your trigger problems? Did you try adjusting it? :D I haven`t messed with the trigger any lately. I have it down around 2lbs but it still feels a bit gritty and I`...

Re: Help...204 issues

The others gave good ideas about what to look for, but I`d add a small crack in the bedding area of the stock. I had a sauer develope a very small crack in the tang area that acted similar to what you are seeing. One minute it shot 1/2" the next it jump POI a little or opened up to 1.-2" g...

Starting out with a 204

Just before Christmas I found a nib, or like new if it isn`t, Remington XR-100 in 204 Ruger on the used gun rack at my local shop . There were absolutely no marks or sign of use on it anywhere and the mount holes in the receiver still had the plugs in them. I have had no experience with the cartridg...

Re: Neck shape

You might have a burr or sharp edge on the extractor shaving a bit of brass. I have a couple of Remingtons that do this and I just ignore it, but I do make sure I get the shavings out of the bolt face when I clean. The dents if I understand you are present after firing a round and extracting it? If ...

Re: Exceeding max load??

The books are not cut in stone but are only guide lines. There is no guaranty you can load to the max listed load, nor it will not blow a primer before reaching it. There is also no guaranty you will get the same max pressure and top velocities with the max load the lab did if you can load to it. Ch...

Terrible, terrible rifles. They are only good for very, very small targets
Tell ya what, I`ll dispose of it for you and won`t tell anyone you once owned one.

Re: CFE223 anyone?

Ol' Joe, I have a pound of Superformance my son got for his 300WSM. Last time I checked there was no loading data for 204. I even called Hornady and they said it was not formulated for 204. I pulled apart a Hornady factory 204 round and the factory powder looks and smells exactly like the Superform...

Re: "New" powder avaiable

I`ve had my eye on this powder too. More due to the claims of temperature tolerance and decent (not necessarily greater then other powders) velocity then any "copper cleaning" quality in the cartridges I shoot. I`ve had good results with Benchmark in my two 223`s but just added a 204 to my...

Re: Problems with Lee Seater Die!

Are the case mouths getting distorted on the deep seated ones? If the bullet is catching on the edge of the seater cup it is ~ 0.10" canted to the side. This would definately damage the case mouth, or has in my experiance when it has happened. Are you using a compressed charge? I am curious if ...

Re: CFE223 anyone?

Vargtarg that looks promising for sure. How does it compare to your other powders for velocity? Benchmark has been quite clean in my rifles as far as carbon and gives very nice accuracy but does keep up wit some of the other powders i`ve tried. If I can get clean, good accuracy, and velocity, I`d be...
