CFE223 anyone?

Has anyone tried the new Hornady/Hodgdon Superformance or CFE223 powders in the 204 yet?
If so what did you think of them?

Re: The perfect loading setup

The Redding Comp Seating Die was the specific one I was referring to. Good that your Forester comp die clears; it should, they're made by the same company, but friends tell me the RCBS comp seater won't clear either. It's just one more thing to consider when starting out fresh; not all of this equi...

Re: remington 204 with a 20 inch barrel

Barrel length doesn`t affect accuracy, or shouldn`t. You may have to tweek your load some though to bring it back to where it was though. Benchrest shooters use a short barrel often to gain stiffness which they believe is a aid to accuracy. You will however lose some velocity by cutting it back whic...

Re: Redding Dies and SAAMI Tolerance ?

Brass work hardens and getting a die to bring it to a specific size is a gamble. When a die resizes your case it knocks it down about 0.002" or so under the desired point. Then when the case is extracted from the die the brass "springs back" and hopefully stops near the proper dimensi...

Re: Primer of Choice?

If I need a small rifle primer, Remington 7 1/2s` are it ~80% of the time. I have pretty good luck with the Federal 205M in some loads too, but they are not the 1st primer I go with.

Re: Help please

Don`t know if they can ship bolt parts to your country but you might call Brownells.

Re: varmint nightmare 34 grain .204 bullets

I`ve heard these are the same bullet sold by Nosler as "Shots" in Australia for kangaroo hunting. I don`t know if they are 2nds or 1st run bullets though.

Re: Where to start with my reloads

btlbrn the trigger pull isn`t too heavy it is very grittty feeling, and jerky. Sand in the works is the only way I can describe it. it isn`t a problem really just not at all what I expected from a supposed target style trigger.

Re: fellow 204 ar reloaders?

I'm having feeding issues with any brass that has been fired and then being reloaded for the first time, its almost as if the die isn't pushing the shoulder back far enough? ? Can you see air between the die and shell holder with the ram at TDC and a case in the shellholderholder? You shouldn`t. If...

Re: Where to start with my reloads

Thanks for the replys guys. :D OJ how does your xr-100 shoot? I stumbled on this rifle in the used gun rack but it is new in the box, or appears to be. The plugs are still in the receiver scope holes and a smith claimed the gun appeared unfired to him. I put a Nikon 6x18 Buckmaster on it (The pensio...

Where to start with my reloads

Hello, I`m new to the 204 although I`ve been reloading for most of my life. I just picked up a new Remington XR-100 in this chambering, and though haven`t loaded a round for it yet I have a couple questions. How sensitive to bullet geometry does cartridge seem to be? I have shot three different bull...

Re: OOOps

Drape a towel over your press, wear safety glasses, and decap as you normally would. I`ve done more then a few "mistakes" over the last 40yrs and never had one go off yet, athough my dad set one off using a old Lee thumb priming tool to seat them once.. Take it slow and I doubt you will ha...
