Re: 270 wsm for hogs?
The WSM is only slightly stronger than a standard 270. So yes, no trouble with using it on hogs.
Had a very good friend use his 270Win on a pig hunt in NM last summer. Brought home a 400# hog with 1 shot.

Re: "breaking in" a barrel
I have left Sweets in my 308 over night on 2 different occasions. That gun still shoots 8" groups @ 1,000 yards.

Re: "breaking in" a barrel
NO, Ammonia will NOT etch your bore!! Where the press comes from is Ammonia's love of water. If you don't get the ammonia cleaner out, then leave your gun sit(you live where it is VERY humid) for a long time; come back and your bore has begun to rust. But ammonia (at least in reference to anyone's g...

Re: Help...204 issues
TonyB, Yes it is a problem with the 204, any small caliber gun really. What you describe is EXACTLY what mine did; shoot-then no shoot. It actually was Sierra that set me on the right track. Even though I cleaned regularly, the problem is "Hard Carbon". It can happen in anything, but is pa...

Re: "breaking in" a barrel
Because I am lazy and don't want to re-type, and I was just at this site:); I'm borrowing a quote from MZ5. I happen to whole-heartedly agree with about this subject... The person he references is Gail McMillen. Quote MZ5, from wssmzone: Barrel 'break-in' is nothing more than shooting the rifle, but...

Re: .223 Rem-34 gr DT bullets
A thing that I found out a few years ago about the DogTowns; they have a light jacket.
With a typical Rem twist(12-14) they are just fine, for those us us that shoot Savage's/AR's load slow.
The max RPM for those is about 260,000 rpm.
FYI

Re: Trigger Help
This really is a personal preference, but as Bow Shot said you will probably adapt to either.
If you want a really nice 2-stage, you can buy Rock Rivers for about $70.
Personally I like single stage triggers.

Re: weighing brass
The only times I have ever noticed a difference when weight sorting was in 2 places. My 6.5X300WSM wildcat with a less than optimum powder, and at 1,000 yards with my .308. Under about 500 yards for me there is no practical difference. Yes in typical commercial cases you will find a rather large wei...

Re: Exceeding max load??
Taboo just because of liability mostly. Especially if you have a long throat, it is completely typical to be able to be over book max; but not over gun max. In all of the other forums I visit, it is amazing to me how many people don't or don't know how to measure what their guns max COL is. For thos...

Very good start, here is a little more. 1. is the assist really necessary ? --As said, no not necessary. 2. i understand there are 3 different lowers for each of the calibers. ???? how do you tell the difference ???? --There is one 223/5.56Nato. and 2, 308 patterns. As stated Only colt made the larg...

Re: "New" powder avaiable
If you want a real cold shower with this powder(or properly said, Hodgdon).... This "copper cleaning technology" is a tin compound...SAME stuff(same quantity to) that has been in Win 748 & Win 760 for(according to the MSDS) at least the past 20 years. For all their marketing of "e...
