Re: 204 rifle recommendations
I have a Cooper M21, CZ Kevlar Varmint, and Remington LVSF in .204R. All are shooters, but the LV just won’t reach out there quite as far, with its shorter barrel. The CZ V is the “Mama Bear” of the three with it’s just-right barrel weight/length: heavy enough for repetitive shots and bench work, li...

Re: WTB leupold 8.5-25x40mm Side Focus
Hmmm...never saw a SF Leupold in 8.5-25X with a 40mm objective. Did see a VX3i for sale in that magnification range with a 50mm over on longrangehunting.com; had a duplex reticle. Love my 6.5-20 VX3 w/VH reticle but would like that extra 5X sometimes. I couldn’t begin to afford my favorite car now: ...

.204 Savage FVs $335
FWIW: Cabela’s specials in .204 now on sale. 26” hvy. barrel, blind-box mag, big bolt knob; even with their Tupperware stocks, these things shoot!

Re: Groundhog crawl aways with .204..
Ha. I had the exact same experience the first outing with a .243 (thinking it would kill a g-hog "better" than a .204R): same distance, postion, etc., 70 gr. Blitzking. It was still healthy enough while dragging several yards of guts, to turn and come after me!

Volquartsen .204?
Are they even making, or going to build them? Just checked their website and it's hard to tell. The price is stiff at well over two grand. I've never been a fan of the AR platform, but if these (basically) centerfire 10-22s shoot as well as their Vol. rimfire counterparts, I could possibly see selli...

Re: Getting ready for my first 204 in CZ Varmint...buying the other "stuff"
Get a good fiberglass or coated rod; I have a Tipton. Don't let cleaning go so long that that carbon ring builds up at the edge of the chamber; a good pre-soaking will let a patch slip through without forcing. As for ammo: I never shoot the 32-grainers. If you want heavier factory stuff, since the C...

Around 1400. A 54 repeater might be worth a bit more.

Re: CZ-527 Varmint Kevlar sure loves 39 blitz’s
The magazine springs in the CZ .204s are awfully stiff also, the force from them not only contributes to case galling but also causes feeding jams. I stoned the feed lips and also kept the mags loaded when not in use to reduce the spring tension; both problems were solved (springs will only reset li...

Love those rifles. My Kevlar does just a hair bigger with Reloader 10/39 SBKs. Might try some 4895 next. Thanks.

Re: Need help on picking out a Ruger 204 rifle
Congrats mine will show up tomm at my ffl. Mtv in .204. Still scope shopping but i think a leupold 6.5 x 20 x 40 w side focus. And maybe the cds dials. Im looking for suggestions for a hard case to transport in I prefer the Plano "Air Glide" case. It stores the rifle vertically; held in p...

Re: CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar got her first Groundhog!
Good job. You're gonna love that CZ on groundhogs and coyotes. I prefer the heavier 39 gr. Sierra Blitzkings or 35 Bergers myself, and I try to limit ranges on those varmints to 300 yards for efficient kills. Longest groundhog was 450 yards (39 BK), but took two shots with my 24" barrel Kevlar;...

Re: Hello! New to .204!
I lucked into one of those .204 Kevlar Varmints, in the same condition, a couple years back. I'd lolly-gagged too long on an ultra-rare maple stock .204 Varmint because seller feedback sounded sketchy; by the time I decided to take a chance it was sold. Didn't clear web history on my phone before ch...

Re: New CZ 527 Varmint, mini range report
Yes; at least mine is getting smoother. To help feeding from the db magazine, I lightly stoned the burrs and sharp edges. I also "set" the stiff springs a bit lighter in the new mags by leaving three rounds in them when not in use.
Love this rifle, btw.

Re: Need help on picking out a Ruger 204 rifle
FYI: First Stop Guns (SD) is showing a couple .204s in stock; one is an M51 repeater for not much more than the "single-shots" are going for many places.triggerfingers wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2017 4:39 am I'm still waiting for the rifle to be built... it's only been about three months since I ordered it.

Re: Cooper Varmint Extreme model 21 in 204 Ruger
I'm thinking the factory test shooter had a "brain fart" and simply wrote the wrong bullet down on the target. Probably does several chamberings a day and forgot, e.g.: my Cooper .221 Fireball was tested with 50 gr. Sierra Blitzkings. All the .204s I've seen the targets of - including mine...
