Re: Winchester brass

Same experience when using Win 204 headstamped brass - split necks.

I DO use RP 204 headstamp brass in my 222 Magnum AI with ZERO issues.

Re: AR BLACK HOLE WEAPONRY BARREL

If the nitride/melonite scratches that easy, send it back - was not done correctly. Should be 0.002" deep into the finish.

Re: another SR

I specifically purchased an SR22 for the variety of classes that I teach. Must be....at least 6K round thru it...and is still VERY accurate and dependable.

My wife liked shooting it so much, she picked up an SR22 in Muddy Girl for herself.

Congrats on the new Ruger!!

Some, or all, may find my comment...odd....but......

Try a different type of lube. STOS, made by Ponsness Warren, is 100% synthetic, contains no petroleum products, has a very wide operating temperature range, and is very slippery.

Check surplusammo dot com - they have a "franken bolt" that has quite a few features that you might like. Price is $99.

Re: Building AR: Barrel nut torque for accuracy?

Excellent. There are a couple flavors of fastening/torqueing systems on barrel nuts.

What brand is the upper/handguard system?

Re: Building AR: Barrel nut torque for accuracy?

Any lubricant is better than none. Your aeroshell should work just fine.

Do you have the 5 pin barrel nut wrench to torque with? If not, they are the best to torque with.

Re: Building AR: Barrel nut torque for accuracy?

IMHO, 100% synthetic lubricant on threads of barrel nut, threads on upper receiver, face of receiver, and face of barrel extension/and + or/inside face of barrel nut. After lubing, assemble by hand a couple times to spread lubricant across threads. Go with what the forend manufacturer recommends, as...

Ruger American 22 RF?

LOL!...yes...another. Anybody own one yet? I ordered and picked a Ruger American in 22 RF. Purchased the 8301 model. I really don't care for plastic stocks, but this stock actually feels ok in hand (texture in the right places). Stock also features adjustable length of pull. http://www.ruger.com/pro...
