Re: Win Model 70 load aggravation

That is one heck of a nice critter getter. Some day I would like to have a nice one hole shooter like that. Would sure be a pleasure to shoot. Only have one 204 now- had a nice 24" heavy barreled 204 AR with all the $$ accoutrements. Absolutely sucked to carry and wouldn't group well until 300 ...

Re: Win Model 70 load aggravation

Looking at the different on-line stability calculators. Berger https://bergerbullets.com/twist-rate-calculator/ or JBM https://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmstab-5.1.cgi The stability dies off with 88gr. Stability: 1.276 Marginal with 87gr. Stability: 1.322 The shorter 0.934- 85.0 Sierra HPBT (Ga...

Re: Win Model 70 load aggravation

Yes'r, I reload but didnt intend to reload this 243. Never expected to buy a 243 that shot so lousy. The 1-10 twist doesn't like heavy bullets so I am thinking a longer flat base design would allow loading closer to the rifling.. First few loads are Sierra 85gr. Prepped cases last night. Have Varget...

Win Model 70 load aggravation

Bullet question- I have an aggravating Win Model 70 Extreme Weather SS 243 and a stack of factory loads for it. Bought it for my son several years ago, (his first big game rifle) with the intent of buying off the shelf ammo. It’s a 243 - how hard can it be- well- my lever actions shoot tighter group...

They are the best. Depends on each persons situation and circumstances to decide. The lessons/legal advise on the site is extensive and well worth the cost.

This guy was one of the players we saw just before packing up (over 400 yards away so it may be a little fuzzy)
I swear he was yelling Alan..alan..alan..

Re: ground squirre;ls

Had great weather and a fun shoot on some east side private property last weekend. Plenty of carnage and no shortage of targets. Still quite a bit of standing water in areas. We took 22LRs, 17HMRs & 22mags for short range work and my son raised havoc with the 204 at 200 yds out. Plenty of Rock c...

Left Hand Browning 204?

I have been searching for a Left Hand Browning Hunter 204 Ruger for my wife and haven't found diddly. Anyone know if Browning ever built one? Their web site is obnoxious. Closest thing I found is a reference to one of their "Limited Distribution Firearms" A-Bolt Medallion in 223 Rem. 22-25...

Re: Do you think a 22 rimfire is a handicap with a good shoo

Ditto to Rick in Oregon. Just got back on the 22LR kick after looking into the Appleseed Project. Here I am extolling the merits of another gun to my wife and the 22 rears up as a go-to gun again...not sure how many 22's I have but now I NEED several more.. different ones..gotta have a back up. Diff...

Re: Looking for Browning A bolt in .204

Browning A-Bolt Hunter is a nice little gun. Shoots bug holes. I've got one..errr 'had' ( still in -MY- vault :chin: ) one till I let on that my son could use it.. Now I have to pull rank or offer to check its sight-in if I want to shoot it. Gave up looking for a second one. They are out there but s...

Changing restrictions on firearm noise suppressors

Just learned the silencer bill passed here in Washington. Now (or in 90 days) I can pop off rounds from the chicken coop with out bothering the layers or stampeding the horses out of the pasture.. coyotes have been traipsing thru the end of the pasture unmolested... Wonder how they effect accuracy? ...
