primer life ?

Hey fellas, I have picked up a couple thousand small rifle and pistol primers from my father n law. The primers are 10 maybe 15 years old. They are a mix of Remington. Winchester and CCI. He has never had air conditioning that I can remember and it gets real hot and humid here in Illinois. He hasn't...

Help me win a recruit .................

Hey, guys, I have a buddy of mine who I directed to this site to get him into a 204. He is currently undecided as to what rifle to get. If you want to show off your 204 rifle and what it can do, make the best sales pitch you can. If you love your Rem, Kimber, Savage, Ruger, ect show it to him and let...

Re: T/C Venture

I got a black TC Venture in 204 about 2 weeks ago and have been getting 1/2 inch groups @ 100 yrd with the 40 gr Berger HP, 27 gr H4895, CCI br4, Win brass and a COL of 2.91 Ogive or 2.25 " measured from the tip of he shell. It may be a little on the hot side, so work up to it from 26 gr of pow...

TC Venture, anybody have one ?

Just picked up a new TC Venture in 204, not the Preditor but the black stock. Used some Sierra 39 gr BK loads I've had for a while to break the barrel in. They shot very good, but I like a little tougher bullet. I would like to use the 45 gr Hornady SP or the 40 gr Berger HP, these two seem like the...

Thompson Preditor in 204, enyone ?

I have the chance to buy a Thompson Center Venture Preditor camo rifle in 204 Ruger. It seems like a real good rifle. Does anybody out there have one and how do you like it ? Are they as accurate and handle as good as I hear ? And what about that 1:10 rifleing, can you handle 45 & 50 gr bullets ?

Re: Groundhog crawl aways with .204..

I have had poor luck with one shot kills on anything over 15 pounds with any of the poly tip bullets at close range, past 75 yrds the 39 BK does good. I switched to the 45 gr Hornady Sp last summer and have had instant stops. They will skip accross country if the angle is right and almost always com...

Re: CRT bullet data ?

Great, I'll see about 25 gr of RE-10x. That's my favorite 39 BK load.

need a little tougher bullet

Hey guys, Did some varmint hunting last winter and had trouble getting reliable kills with the 39 BKS's. Out of a couple dozen racoons about half took two shots to to kill, ( at close range with a call). The bullet just blew up on the hyde or made a horrible surface wound. I've never had any problem...

Re: Savage feeding hollowpoints (Thanks, Silverfox)

Silverfox, I have a Savage Peditor in 204 that I'm tryng to get to function with the Hornady 45 gr Soft Points and that little flat nose about as wide as a hollow point keeps catching on the chamber mouth when going in. I have been hand feeding them to use them, but that makes the rifle almost a sin...

Re: 45 GR Hornady Bullets?

If anybody is curious, I used the 45 gr. Hornady SP bullet all summer in my 204 Savage Preditor, but a coyote hunting club ran all the coyotes out of my territory so I did'nt get to try them on any coyotes. But since furbrearer hunting season came open , I've shot about 13 big tough racoons with the...

looking for a 25 wssm

I know they don't make a good bolt gun in 25 wssm anymore, but I have brass, bullets and dies for it. So if anybody has a good used Browning or Winchester chambered for such a cartridge for sale or trade, I might be interested. Just curious that's all. Thanks
