Re: Stuck bolt in AR15

Ok so here's a thought...maybe crazy. So Randy has a new set of small base dies. Remove the deprimer/neck sizer rod. Lube the reloads and then resize. As long as the bullet clears the upper part of the resize die, should be ok? Then no need to pull bullets. Just a thought. If you do that, make darn...

Re: New CZ 527 Varmint, mini range report

SMBOB, the TC I had liked the 32 gr SBK and 28.9 grs of BL(C)-2. Doesn't look like I ever tried the 39 SBK with anything other than RL10X. I have a few pounds of BL(C)-2 on hand, I'll definitely give that combination a try!

Re: CZ is in the house!

Wow, that's awesome. My 527 Varmint has a very pedestrian stock, so much so that I have no qualms about replacing it with a B&C Kevlar this rat season. I was prepared to do the same thing. I wasn't expecting a rifle like this at that price. It seems like it's going to shoot as good as it looks ...

New CZ 527 Varmint, mini range report

Finally got out to shoot the CZ today. Temp was 50, slight mist, winds calm. Very dreary but the way it's been raining here this was going to be my only shooting window for a while. Broke it in using a box for 32 gr Hornady factory. Shoot, clean, shoot, etc until the box of 20 was gone. Didn't get t...

Re: CZ is in the house!

kWm, what do you shoot in yours? I bought some 34 gr Dogtowns to try with BL-C(2) and have some 32 gr Noslers to try with RL10. Need to get out and break it in and start having some fun. Kind of afraid to take it to far from the bench though.

CZ is in the house!

I was already looking for a replacement stock when I ordered a 527 varmint. I was thinking the wood was going to a plain brown blah stock. Was I ever wrong! The lighting in the garage and the camera on my phone don't do it justice. Mounting a Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16 as soon as the rings arrive. That ...

Re: 204 Ruger brass

The last Winchester 204 brass I saw was in Anchorage in 2012, IIRC. I had to get 200 pieces of Nosler for my new CZ.

Hunker mounts and CZ's "new" bolt???

Picking up a new CZ 527 Varmint in .204! Does anyone know if the Calhoun Hunker mounts work with the "new" CZ bolt handle? I'm mounting a Vortex Viper 30mm tube and I'd like it as low as possible. Other viable options?

Thanks!

Re: my experience forming 20vt brass

Nice job on the brass, and the group! I've tried removing the "guts" from the bushing die but the brass just gets crushed. I have better luck using the body die and just a touch of Imperial wax on the base-end of the brass. I wonder if the brass I'm using is already too hardened? Does full...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaners for brass

I picked one up from that-online-auction-site a couple of years ago that looks just like the Hornady one. Not sure what the differences might be. Osccilations per second? I now use a 60/40 mix of water/white vinegar with a thorough rinsing in plain water afterward. I've also tried the Hornady mix an...

Re: 204 Ruger and 338 Lapua – The Sublime to the Ridiculous

my buddy bought Weatherby .338 LM just becuase it's bigger then his two .338 Win Mags and he can afford to shoot it. It did quite a job on a 16 lb bowling ball! :) He still enjoys shooting my .204 and 20 VT. You don't want to be near the bench when that LM is being fired...

Don't you need an .88 magnum to shoot bastages?

Re: Going over max load 32g sbk

It would take an entire reloading manual to completely answer that question. The only way to know for sure is to work up to it with your rifle, your brass, your primers, your lot of powder, and your batch of bullets. Compare the data from any two different manuals or any of the powder manufactures. ...

Re: Using the Hornady Comparitor

What if you find that seating the bullet at max length isn't the accuracy node that you were looking for? You'll need something to measure with. I think you'll find that using the bullet tip (meplat?) isn't always consistent. Be sure and keep it, you'll need it when you get your Cooper...

Re: Help with cleaning

The blue is coming from the brush. Use copper solvent with nylon brushes or patches. I use two wet patches of Shooter's Choice (SC), then a nylon brush soaked in SC, and finally two dry patches. After taking RIO's advice, I now follow with a bronze brush soaked in SC, two more dry patches, then star...
