Re: New Leupolds

Funny thing about premium scopes. It appears that Loopy sees a market there but it appears that every time they dip their toe in, the market says yah, yah, but what do you have for under $250. I buy resolution. That's what allows one to see through mirage and see non-contrasting targets in low light...

Cold and Dark so I got my camera out.

This picture's intent was to illustrate Picattiny mounted ACI. This scope has Mil knobs with Horus H-25 reticle. Combination of colors and light using incandescent and shoe mounted flash made for interesting colors and details.

Re: Red Tip! The Hornady Experience

Just to show that I don't always buy expensive scopes here is my M70 in 6.5-08. This rifle has fluted Lilja. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff373/dmci1/260M70bjpg.jpg Bullets above are 225 SST, 129 SST and 32 grain Vmax. Here are the pills I use with the 7WSM. In my view they are not required f...

Red Tip! The Hornady Experience

I purchased the 2010 Hornady Reloading Manual and really liked what I saw, then got out my camera and made the following study of the new loads for my hunting rifles, including a 330 Dakota, .260 Remington, and a .204 Ruger.

Re: Needing prarie dog hunting recomendations or advice

Quite a few years ago now(2002), I attended the Chuck Cornett shoot in North Eastern Montana at the Belnap Reservation. At the time they had all the bells and whistles, lots of targets, excellent guides and lots of property. Of course there were license fees, guide fees, etc. but all in all the expe...

Re: 6.5x47 Lapua build

This stock is the third generation sniper rifle stock. Interestingly, I built my .204 on it and it does really well on the squirrel field as shown below:

Re: Which Press

I reload .223, .204, .308, 6.5-.308, 7mm WSM, .30-06, .45-70 and several pistol calibers mainly .45 ACP. All of my rifle calibers arer seated with Redding Dies on a Co-Ax. The first four I keep in larger quantities (I try to keep on hand a minimum of 500 of each.) for varmint and target shooting. I ...

Scope videos

A couple of scope videos: VX-3 rides in Range Rover: Shakes and Rattles The old story is that the hunter lifts his heavy rifle to his shoulder and fires. The hunter goes down and the buffalo goes down. First to get up is the winner. Reality is a little different. Rifle is .375-.404 Wildcat, equal to...

Re: OEM barrel break-in

As far as I can gather, improving the micro-finish of the bore makes a rifle shoot better. Lilja who I buy my barrels from hand laps the barrels at the factory using cast honing tools charged with abrasive and lubricant which accomplishes this prior to shipment. Firing jacket bullets through the bar...

Can't have too many rifles, right? Skippy should have choices for his final trip to the Big Alfalfa Patch in the Sky Let's see now, there's a few others: .204-.250 .204-6mm Lee Navy AKA .204-.220 .204-.30 Win for lever fans .204-5" 54 Cal and for those that like their wild cats really hot: .20...

And it'll prolly be windy every day on the killin' fields....... Best get used to it. Don You ain't kiddin Doc! In South Dakota, the Dogs were out in force but so was the 20knot winds. Funny thing about the .330 Dakota. This is one of the larger Dakota cases based on the .404 Jeffrey that Dakota has made in their proprietary line of hard hitting rounds. In my opinion a very fine do it all North American round. Then on top of that Hornady has come out in the last few years with a l...

For all practical purposes, therefore: 24", 25", or 26" it matters little. Exactly! Unless of course, you have a favored barrel length you just prefer for no other reason than you LIKE IT that way. :D Not sure what barrel length you were using the day pictured below (24"?), but ...
