Re: 6.5x47 Lapua build

I finally managed to get time to break the barrel in... it was pretty effortless with the bartlein barrel! The first and only load I've used was a low dose of H4350 at 38.5 grains pushing the SMK 120's. It put 5 shots into a very small ragged hole at 100. I didn't have time to measure it with calipe...

My Cooper Jackson Squirrel 22LR!!!!

After 7 months of waiting, my Cooper 57M Jackson Squirrel Rifle in .22LR came in! I got the wood upgraded to AAA+ and it is beautiful. I got lucky with the piece because it has a decent amount of feathercrotch in it. I took it out today and shot for a bit and it's a tack driver with CCI Mini Mags! H...

Re: 6.5x47 Lapua build

Thank you! I'm very happy with the way it turned out! Well, I have SMK 107's and 120's but I'm probably not going to be using that much for deer haha. I bought some Hornady A-Max 120's and some Berger VLD Hunting in 130. I will probably hunt with either of those 2, depending on which performs better...

Re: 6.5x47 Lapua build

Well, I just received my custom 700 project. As if you couldn't tell from the title of this post, I went with the 6.5 x 47 Lapua. I'm still breaking the barrel in so I don't have any real data yet, but once I do I will post it. But, this baby shoots like a dream so far!! :D Parts List: Remington 700...

Re: First SD prairie dog trip!

Sorry for the lack of updates! We made it back safe and sound and had a GREAT time. Between the 2 of us, we shot around 500 prairie dogs. (Not to bad for our first trip) We went through about 1000 rounds of ammo. The wind was a bit of an issue for us on Day #1 with constant 20-25mph, but after that ...

First SD prairie dog trip!

Well, me and my buddy are headed to SD tomorrow morning for 3 days of (hopefully) shooting fun! Between the 2 of us we have 3 204's, 1 222, 1 22Mag, and 2 22LR's and about 3700 rounds of ammo combined. Gonna make a week trip out of this since we are driving all the way from Pittsburgh, PA! And of co...

Re: Kickin the hog season off right!

This makes hog #4 for me! I decided to get the binoculars out and just check out some of teh hotspots on my farm before I had to leave for work. I found this guy at 442 yards from my house. Me and my friend had seen him just a couple days ago and was gathing leaves for its den. Everytime it looked a...

Re: Kickin the hog season off right!

Just happened to be scopin out the farm and came across this guy at 422 yards away. Shot him with the Cooper 204 using the 32 SBK. Only shot that was presented was broadside (just as you see it in the first pic). This makes hog number 2 for me so far this season, these sunny days are GREAT! When I w...

Kickin the hog season off right!

I just happened to look out of my window and into the fields surrounding my house and I saw 2 hogs wandering around. Both were on the lower side of the creek, so from where I would be shooting I had to wait until a decent shot presented itself due to the angle. (These things are smarter than we give...

Re: Bartlein barrels, looking for opinions

I too am using a Bartlein barrel for my build on a 6.5x47 Lapua. It should be coming in any day now. I researched barrel makers extensively and decided on the Bartlein. Now if you ask 10 different ppl on here, or anywhere else, you will probably get 10 different answers on the best barrel manufactur...

Re: Ruger m77 MKII - thoughts, performance

This was the first 204 that I owned. It shot factory Hornady 40's rather well (under .75"). But hand loading was a different story. It was not consistent with ANY combination and could never get a decent load that was repeatable. I know others have had luck with that rifle, but as for me, no mo...
