Re: best bullet gr for groundhogs
My best bullets in 204Ruger are 35gr Berger HP and 39gr Sierra BK. I have over 1,950 34grHP from Nosler, someday I must try them out as well but hate to change the success I now have. Just shot my first Rock Chuck of the season 2/15/2013. It was a full grown female at about 85 yards, D.O.A. from a 1...

Cougar Hunt
I have been invited to help an acquaintance take care of an overly friendly Cougar. It seems it is not afraid of going under his porch after his cats and stalks around his home and property. I have never hunted a Big Cat before so "Any Suggestions!" I will be using a high tech Predator Rem...

FedEx and/or UPS, I think handles Powder and primers with an additional "Hazardous Materials" charge.

Having had several 223's and 222 Rem's, etc. I am sure you will fall in love with the 204 Ruger as I have. I also have a 17 Remington I have shot for 30
+ years and love it as well. Good shooting, awaiting hearing your comparison results....

Re: Good hand load for a 243 Win
What do you want to kill with using a 105gr in a 243Win? I have found the heaviest slugs are usually less acurate and bullet drop off is greater. Just my experience. The 90gr.Sierra will hit 3203 fps max, a 95gr Nosler Partitioned runs 3138 fps max. and the 105 gr. Hornady A-Max runs 2986 fps max - ...

Re: best bullet gr for groundhogs
Rick is a darn good shot, and a good source of info. I used a Berger 35grHP and IMR8208XBR powder and Rem 7 1/2 BR primers with my first testing and got a group at 100 yards = .236 out of my Kimber 84M in 204 Ruger. Still working to improve it. Rifle is 100% stock except that I freefloated the barre...

Re: Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!
G'day fellow shooters. I'm not from Downunder but enjoyed your post, even when they are a little old. I shoot a 204 Ruger in a Model 84M Kimber. I found it loves 35grHP Bergers, shoots under 1/4 inch groups at 100 yards. I also shoot a 17 Remington. I have shot it for 30+ years. I dropped an America...

Re: Speer TNT
The only 39gr I know of are Sierra 39gr Blitz King. I have some but have not loaded them as yet. The Berger 35grHP shoot under 1/4" at 100yds. 32gr's do not shoot well in my rifle. 34gr Winchesters are good accurate factory ammo.

Re: Good hand load for a 243 Win
I reload for a friend who shoots a 243 Win. He asked me to load 100gr Spire points for shooting Antilope. He shoots an early mfg Ruger model 77 with a cheap model 3X9X36 scope on it. I advise him I would prefer we use a 90gr bullet as he will get higher velocity and probably better accuracy. He agre...

Re: Advice needed please....
Hi jam1e I shoot groups of three to save time and ammo. I start with a mid range load and work up .1 or 1/10 of a grain at a time. I hand weigh each load on a very accurate beam scale,. I have a RCBS Electronic unit but they claim +- 1/10 of a grain accuracy variation and they are correct, NOT accur...

I bought 3 sets of CABELAS electronic muffs, 1 pairs on/off switch went belly up after 5 or 6 uses, The other two are working ok thus far.
