Re: Scope Mounts
Giterdoone, thanks for the reply. Nice shootin... I think the powder they use at the hornady factory is proprietary to them and won't be for sale over the counter. I remember discussing this with them way back when the Light Magnums came out. I looked at the Savage web site and will follow the...

Re: Scope Mounts
giterdone, thanks for the reply. I got the VLP with the detachable magazine. I will pick it up on Wed, the 25th. How is your accuracy? I am a little nervous buying a Savage. I had said previously that I have always been a Remington man but big green seems to be turning little pink  Any words of...

Re: Scales not the same?
I checked the digital can't check the balance. The weight for hte digital are heavier than the balance will allow.

LE Wilson Trimmer
I have the LE Wilson trimmer for other cases that I reload. I was just on Midway's sight and found they do not list one for the 204 Ruger. Do I have ot by another trimmer specific for the 204?

Re: Scales not the same?
I am starting to think I should have stuck with not checking between the two in the first place and not given myself this headache. WHat's the old saying, what we don't know won't hurt us. I guess if they were three grains off that may

Re: Scales not the same?
Thanks for the quick reply... I am loading the .204 Ruger. The weird thing was that I would measure first on the digital then the beam. One load the beam would show .1 grain heavier and the next it would be .1 grain lower. :chin: They were both right on accurate though with the same load. Meaning as...

Scales not the same?
I ahve two powder scales. One is a RCBS 505 beam scale and the other is a electrice RCBS powder master. When I weigh charges they are always different by .1 grain. THe beam scale shows either one over or below the electric scale. I have balanced them several times and they both show that they are ac...

Scope Mounts
Can anyone tell me what scope mounts are used on the Savage VLP? I purchased one today and it is not in yet. I do not remember if the rear of the receiver is rounded or not. The front mount of a two piece mount is fairley standard. The rear is either for a flat reaciever or round. Please let me know...

I am from NJ and have been involved in shooting and hunting since I was a child. I am a firearms instructor and armorer where I work. Savage VLP First time
I am new to this forum but have been following it for about a month now. I found a lot of good information on here and have decided to make a purchase. Thanks for all the "good". I have always been a diehard Remington 700 man. The tide has turned and I am going to purchase a Savage 12 VLP ...
