This time with the Boys

This time I went out with the boys. The girl was home with Mommy playing soccer. So, we went to the same farm I was with my daughter and found one Ground Hog, at 212 yards. Dumped him, and began to search for more. I thought I saw one at 105 yards. Got the rifle off the quad loaded up and, woops it ...

Re: First on of the Season

BabaOriely, We don't have quite that many but we do have plenty. We can shoot them from March 1, through August 31. By August we have the same grass issues. During that time I sit on the corner of two farm roads and wait for them to make a crossing. I am good for one or two an outing. Thats with sit...

Re: Jackal in South Africa

Looks like a good night.. Is that the norm or was that that a very good night? Are you using a 204 ? What are the eyes looking at the camera showing up behind you? Did ya miss one

First on of the Season

Here in NJ Ground Hog splating came in on March 1. We have had record snows and the snow is finally gone, however, the rain has moved in and the fields I hunt are quite messy. I finally had the opportunity to go out and my daughter got sick. She had some stomach virus, or so I thought. The next day ...

Coyotes with a Shotgun?

As many of you know I live in NJ. Lucky me.... anyway, they have changed the season for Coyotes here alowing hunting at night however, you have to use a shotgun. You have to use fine shot no larger than "T" shot and no smaller than #4. You can use electronic calls and hunt at night. Anyone...

Re: Lucky Group : )

Nice Shooting indeed. I wish I had an area in Southern NJ to shoot at greater distances than 100 yards. There is a range with a 300 yard range but it is a long drive and to go once or twice a year its not worth the membership price.

Re: Todays Target

My secret formula is.... Berger 35 Grain Bullets Winchester Brass trimmed to 1.830 Benchmark Powder 26.6 Grains Federal 205 Primers. (Not the 205M) Not sure of the OAL but the length to the Ogive is 2.015 Velocity 3690. (I think it is my rifle that gives me this speed I have loaded other loads from ...

Todays Target

I went to the range today and the rifle did rather well. Well enough I had to post it. Heres the skinny on the target. That is a 10 shot group. If you count all 10 the group is .546 inches across. Just over a half inch. If you discount the two that went out of the group to the bottom right the group...

Re: 39 grain Sierra Blitzkings and groundhogs

I have been using the 39 BK's all year with not one surface splash. I have shot them from 35 - over 460 yards. No problems yet. They have been hit from mid body up. I am a little slower at around 3650.

Re: 39 grain Sierra Blitzkings and groundhogs

Billy J. My 2 cents, I am also shooting 39 SBK's at ground hogs, and some fairly large ones. I have not had a survase splash yet. I have hit them in all reagions of the body, and have yet to have any survive. The range has been from about 40 yards to 462 yards. On the smaller ones they pop like &quo...

Re: Last evening

Looks like a great day. My numbers have been decreasing. Not seeing no where near as many as early season. I know there is one guy "employed" by the farmer who hunts them with dogs. He really knocks the heck out of them. Same thing happens during rabbit season. THe beginning of the season ...

Re: Ground Hog Carnage

Walther, I know what you mean. I have a few more, as I am good for two or three a day when I can get out. No where near what the "Westerners" do. I feel like I am truley missing something. I have never needed to "Cool" my barrel :wall: I want to have such problems.
