Re: First time groundhog shooting, tips please!

My 2 cents. I go out with two young sons, 6 and 8 wearing jeans and t-shirts. We drive to various fields and spot with binoculars from the truck. When I see a few in the field we get out, quietly, or at least as quietly as a 8 and 6 year old can be, and get set up. I shoot from a 6-9" Harris Bi...

Looks like a lot of fun. You could never do that here in Jersey. Park that close to a road with big mean guns, oh that would be frowned on for sure. Love the photo's.

Big Horn Barney, I know you asked Rick, however, I can tell you where I got my charts. I have a ballistic program that will give me the MOA list with the print out. If you can's get them anywhere you can send me a pm and I will chart yours. I would need all the info on your round, BC, Velocity, weig...

Re: 462 Yard Chuck... Cool

Love the rifle. Most accurate rifle I ever shot. My best group was three shots, I was only shooting three shot groups at the time to conserve on powder and primers, was .089. Just a rag hole. Average groups with this rifle, are under .5 ussualy between .3 and .5. I have shot several groups, not sure...

Re: 462 Yard Chuck... Cool

That was the 12th one this year for me. I noticed they have gotten smarter and sharper since they came out in early April. I can't walk up on them to get within 100 yards or so. I am still learning this game this is my first year Smokin Chuck's :D I have a scale at my hunting Club. The heaviest was ...

9.4 pounds. Looked like last years. Chuck. Hair looked good as did his teeth. By far not the biggest I've killed here. They get pretty big round here.

Re: Rangefinders

I can add that the Nikon I have was unable to range at the distance I shot my last hog, 462. It was only able to rang to the hedge rows and large brush/ trees. Could not get the grass or ground around the hole. The only way I got the exact range was to stand at he hole he was found dead at and range...

462 Yard Chuck... Cool

Went out today and made the best shot in my life. 462 Yards, one shot at little fuzzy nutty. 8) Rick gotta thank you for your "Come Up Chart " idea. Dialed him in and Pow dropped him in his hole. Pretty cool. The 39 Grain BK did a great job. Turned him off like a switch. First time ever ki...
