Re: Leupold Custom Shop Tactical Scope FS

Silverfox & acloco;

Thanks to each of you. I do have a question on this subject but I'll post it in the Optics area to prevent hijacking Rick's scope thats for sale.

By the way Rick, nice looking rig you have there.

Re: Carnage at the Orchard!

Guy, Those highpower skills sure come in handy don't they? My CZ is an American so I have to be careful to not shoot to fast because the barrel heats up pretty quick. My rifle wears a Zeiss 4.5-14x50 with a Z-Plex reticle. I stumbled onto this scope and I've thought about replacing it because of the...

Re: Carnage at the Orchard!

Guy, How did your CZ work out? Mine really shoots 26 gr Barnes, 35 Bergers and 39 SBKwell. Its only so-so with 40 Hornady's. Anyway, I just load tested my loads @ 200 yards yeaterday. A 10 shot group was 0.4 x 0.4 MOA. I was using 27.9gr RE-15, 2.260 OAL. 39 SBK, Remington (virgin) cases & Remin...

Re: Leupold Custom Shop Tactical Scope FS

Rick,

I like that bubble. If you don't mind me asking where can one pick those up at (I have terrible time canting and it's darn critiacal for accuracy, especially if your group isn't dead center)?

Re: 17 HMR

I wouldn't go without my 17 HMR either. On my first outting I hit a sage rat at 290 yards (a real calm day) with mine. I'll confess that was a lucky shot because the grouping of a 17HMR at that distance is defiently larger than a sage rats physique. The wind "will" definetly blow a 17HMR a...

Re: AR-15 twist rates

Your 8 twist should be good for bullet weights upto 80 grains. As mentioned, I don't know about the "splat factor" with match grade bullets. The 9 twist is a different story. They should be good upto 69 grains. Beyond that, (75 Hornady BTHP and AMX) some like them, some don't. In my Bushma...

Re: In regards to for sale post.

As for the popular internet argument that hoarders are the cause of the primer shortage is like saying that people who planned ahead and bought a few extra occasionally - even when primers were plentiful - are guilty for poor decision making on the part of others. -BCB Yep. I didn't see the price b...

Re: Do you use a different load for different distances?

Rick,

Just curious, why use 2 different bullets for the same gun? The reason I ask is I'm in a similiar dilema with the 35 Berger and the 39 SBK. It just seems the 39 SBK does everything the 35 Berger will do over a longer range.

Re: Leupold oopsie

It wasn't my intent to counter what Rick is saying about Leupold scopes so perhaps I didn't articulate it very well. Rick seems to be pretty passonate about Leupold scopes and it stands to reason when one has had excellent craftsmanship and service from them for years on end. The only thing I was ad...

Re: Leupold oopsie

Let's get this straight right now. Leupold does, and always has made their scopes and bino's here. Anything with a Golden Ring is made in Beaverton, Oregon, USA, period. Ever been to the factory? What do you think all those optical technicians are doing in their little white coats in the factory? G...

Re: New Rifle

Mine needed a bedding and free-floating job and then it just shot knot-holes with Sierra 39 SBK. Mine are only so-so with the Hornady 40 grain. I'm trying some 35 Bergers (hopefully) tomorrow.

Re: 204 at 600 yards?

Hard to say... Gotta' remember, the 223 is a military round and as such, a lot of development goes into it especially in the target shooting world. also, there are some 90 grain 223 cal bullets out there with very high BC's as well as the 6.5 twist barrels need to propel them. This is an added benef...

Re: XR-100

I've wondered what the difference is between the XR-100 and the VLTHSS. One has a gray stock and slightly different shaped forearm, the other has a brown stock and the VLTHSS has a floor plate while it appears the XR-100 does not.

Otherwise, are there any differences?

Re: Soliciting opinions....

Glen, I haven’t but because I’m running out of SAFE space I’ll probably re-stock and re-barrel my 40-X (either that or start unloading some SECNAV Trophy rifles). When I want to switch back I’ll just swap barrels and stocks. The possible downside is I’ve always hea...
