Re: CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar with Leupold 8.5-25x50 MINT

I don't usually butt-in on sale postings, but I would like to vouch for the accuracy of these CZ Kevlar Varmints. I lucked into a lightly-used one recently and it does, indeed shoot 1/2" - maybe better - with that loaded Federal 39 BK ammo; can't wait to try some similar handloads. Have heard C...

Re: New Remington 700 SPS HB

I have one of those Remington SPS Varmints in the discontinued stainless version, but in .22-250, not .204. Is/was a good shooter out of the box but my .22 centerfires get shot very little since I got my .204s. My .204 Remington 700 LVSF quit stabilizing the 40 grain V-Max long ago, but still does w...

Jumped The Gun; Need To Apologize

I checked the "new" site just after it opened back up a few weeks ago. Kinda lost it over the then-slow downloads and failure to respond. No excuse, but have been dealing with some frustrating health issues after a work accident. May have threatened to never return. Ran into a buddy who sa...

Re: Cooper curse

Congrat's on the Cooper Swift. Been eyeballing one just like it with a fluted barrel at a LGS; thinking about selling a couple "off brand" rifles to finance it, as it's zero-sum outlay on gun purchases for this new retiree. Other than swapping repeaters for mostly single-shots, going to al...

Re: Recommend me a scope!

Agree with RIO on the VX-2 with LRV reticle. I like mine in 6-18X though, as Leupolds' f.o.v. seems to run smaller than other brands; still a small scope size-wise in that higher power. VX-2s, with their new glass, are the stone-cold "bargains" of the Leupold brand.

Re: On barrel life, round count, and bullet stabilization

I have a Remington LVSF in .204 that seems to be getting "squirrelly" after only about 500 rounds. Would shoot 40 grainers - even factory loads - real well when new; now groups are opening up with any 39-40 loads I try. Might just be coppered-up, as I haven't tried really cleaning the barr...

Re: Scope magnification advice

Thanks for the responses guys. I guess it looks like my pennies will be saved and spent fearlessly on a leupold 6.5-20. I'm sure I'll fall in love with it and have to purchase 2 more :D 1 for my 700 .204 and 1 for my 223 ar. I don't think you can go wrong with the VX3, Savageboy, and I too think th...

Re: anybody know about RE-15 ?

Fwiw: I just bought some RL 15 last week at a LGS; they had plenty. Planning on trying it for my .243, however. I use RL 10 for .204.....

Thanks for the tip; got one of their stores a half-hour away. Assume that's the non-camo (black) stock at that price?

Re: Large-objective scopes on Coopers

Rick's correct about the cheek weld/scope objective dia. However, fwiw, I'm trying a 50mm objective (side-focus Minox) on my M21 V .204. For the best barrel-hugging fit, I had to go with Weaver-type (don't laugh): Leupold Rifleman extra-high rings. At a whopping 17 bucks the rifle is still accurate ...

Re: Zeiss Conquest HD5 5-25x50 vs VX-3 8-25x50LR

Been looking at both myself. Have pretty-much settled on the Leupold, mostly because the field of view is larger (objects smaller) on the Zeiss at 25 power, I believe. Plus, as was stated, the LR VX3 is 30mm (which also lets one run slightly lower rings) and is customize-able. Then again, on this so...

Wow, sounds good. And the price ain't bad, either! Looks like Ruger's modernization program is paying off.
