Clint,
We had bright, clear skies, relatively mild wind and temps in the 80s. Weather was ideal, so that wasn't a contributing factor.

Re: Well, that sucked...
Toasty, the local guy went out and checked the towns a week before we showed up. He simply missed the boat on this one, by telling us that the shooting was going to be fast and furious. I sincerely appreciate getting the help of a local, but in a situation like this it ended up doing me more harm th...

Re: Well, that sucked...
I can understand the numbers being down, but I sure wish the local guy would have told me that instead of assuring me that I'd struggle to bring enough ammo.

Well, that sucked...
Just wrapped up my annual prairie dog shooting trip, which turned out to be a tremendous disappointment. A buddy and I went to an area on the advice of a local, who said there was an abundance of stupid prairie dogs to keep our barrels piping hot for a couple of days. 2,100+ miles and less than 150 ...

Re: Question for pd shooters...
Keith, I've done both and using a mechanical front rest is the only way to go. Before I had a rotating bench, I would simply slide my front rest back and forth across my shooting table as necessary. I also used the front rest to get rough elevation and then made finer adjustments with the rear bag f...

Re: Light, done right...
Congrats Mike! I know you've been searching for the 'right one ' for some time. Sweet, light, and shoots right! After about four days on the mountain, that rifle will really be a treat to carry. :D Somehow, the right ONE turned into the right, uh, several. :D I have a sneaking suspicion that you un...

Re: 3 card split
I thought about filling the little plastic Easter eggs, the ones you fill with candy for the kids, with flour. They may be too big but they might make a nice 'poof' when you hit'em? Cal I'd opt for balloons instead of plastic eggs. Balloons give more flexibility in size and would be cheaper than th...

Re: 3 card split
Mike, Tried the briquettes. Yup, pretty good challenge with a 10 mph wind! Once she got dialed in, she did pretty well. Problem was with the charcoal. It doesn't blow up like I expected. Both of us just blew chunks out of them. I'm surprised you didn't get a dust cloud when you hit the charcoal. I ...

My pleasure. You and your wife should have a lot of fun with the charcoal briquettes.

Re: 3 card split
You're in ND, so finding a breeze shouldn't be an issue. Tie up some charcoal briquettes with twine and hang them from whatever is handy. Step off to whatever distance becomes a challenge and start plugging away. Stationary targets are not a challenge for your wife, so the introduction of motion see...

Thanks. I've got a Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 with a CDS dial ready to mount on that rifle.
