Re: Savage questions
If you can find a brass welding rod, that just fits into the barrel, pick one up, and use that instead of a cleaning rod. You can tap on the end of the rod with a hammer, and just maybe get that brass out of the barrel.ThaDoubleJ wrote:Anyone have any pointers on how to get that case out of my chamber

Re: 26gn Varmint Grenades
As a Howa owner, and shooter, in 204, I don't think you can beat this rifle for quality, value, and accuracy. It will come in a 1&12 twist, which should handle just about any bullet, except maybe the 40grainers, you choose to feed it. On a good day in the rat fields, I can go thru more than 100 ...

Nicely done as usual Rick, but ain't it kinda late for you out in the field. I can just see you dripping wet, and wiping the sweat of your brow just to make a shot!

Re: Anyone try RL7 in there .204
How are my velocities??? around normal?? i tend not to believe manuals for velocity as I have run into more times then not to get more or less velocity then published. Your velocity's sound about right for my 204 loads, checked with my crony. As for manuals listings for velocity's, take them with a...

Re: Re entering reloading looking for advise
I would suggest, if you need most all components, take a look at some of the starter kits out there. Most have every thing you need to get started. So all you need to add is your dies. When I first started, a friend gave me an old Lyman turret press, so I added all the other components, one at a tim...

Re: New deer rifle
I own, and shoot an older Ruger Mdl 77 in 270 cal. I've been shooting this rifle for deer for better than 50 yrs. My bullet choice has always been 130 grn core loks. Have taken deer from 50yds to out over 400 yds, So my choice is a 270. But as Jim said, a lot more choices in bullets for any 30 cal. ...

Re: Fl sizing
My own process is using what is called a bump die instead of your FL die. You only need to bump the shoulders of the brass .001 or maybe .002. A bump die is basically a fl die with the guts removed, so it works the brass a little less. I only neck size, and at this time I have some brass with 6 firi...

Re: WSM .223
Although I am not familiar with the WSM calibers, I will give you my opinion. When buying a used gun of any kind, it is a crap shoot, Chances are that the previous owner ran up against the same problems you are having and just dumped the rifle. If you are a reloader, you may be able to work out some...

Re: Small Base Body Die
I would suggest finding something (maybe a used brass 204 brush), and wrap some emory cloth around the brush. Then chuck the brush in a drill, and begin running the brush into just the neck part of the die, in a in and out motion. Emory cloth should cut even a very hard surface, but it will take som...

Re: COAL vs Pressures
If you are not into the lands, you should not have a significant increase in pressure. I would suggest a OAL tool just so you know exactly what your chamber length is. For my 39 SBK load, I pushed the bullet as close to the lands, as I dared, so I have only about .120 of the bullet into the brass. I...

Re: Loading for cz 527 in 204 ruger
IME the 204 is not a fickle animal to load for, just start your homework. I fully agree with Darkker on this point. Of the powders you listed, the only 2, I tried, are H335 and Benchmark. For me, I could never get 335 to shoot worth a dime in my 204. So I tried Benchmark w/32 gr pills. and I am sti...
