Re: Found a good price on .204R 40gr VMAX ammunition...

yeah, i plan to reload too, but i priced it out and buying the cases, primer, powder, and bullets to make my first batch would have been more expensive than the factory ammo. so i'm planning to keep these cases and reload them. hornady cases seem to be more expensive than winchester so i'm hoping th...

Re: Thompson Preditor in 204, enyone ?

so how did it shoot?

mine was ok but the 3-9x scope that came with it just isn't powerful enough for me to confidently hold on target at 100yds. eventually i'll put a 4.5-14x Nikon scope on it but it will resting in the safe for a while. i have an AR in 204 that is getting my attention.

Re: Pics of .204 AR's

Just got my first AR. Bought the RRA lower first; it has the 2 stage NM trigger. Then after a bunch of searching found a 204 upper. It is a dtech supposedly with the Shilen select match barrel and the integral compensator. I don't see any markings on the barrel so I need to figure out how to confirm...

how many 204 rounds in a magazine?

I read on Les Baer website that their 204 varmint AR only holds 5 rounds. Is that true of all ARs? I am building mine now and will be ordering some magazines soon. "Note: Because of the taper on .204 Ruger cases, the .204 20-round magazines will actually only hold 5 rounds per magazine." h...

Re: Which stock for varmint hunting?

how about the knock offs? it seems like there are tons of companies that make stocks. i hate to pay extra for a brand name if a cheaper one will do an equal job.

I will give the tactical stock a shot but it seems like at minimum I could benefit from getting a rubber buttpad.

Which stock for varmint hunting?

I'm on my way to building a varmint AR in .204. The lower i bought comes with a RRA Tactical CAR stock. http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=300 I think I like their RRA Operator stock better due to the cheek weld. What's the consensus here about stocks?...

JJ - how are you planning to camo the handguard? Definitely post some pictures when you are done. I am going to eventually build a 204 varmint rifle with a white oaks upper (just have to find one first).

How to keep brass from tarnishing?

When I reload, I usually do a couple houndred rounds at a time. Depending on how often I shoot, that can last me 2-3 years. I've noticed that over time the brass starts to tarnish, so... 1) does shooting tarnished brass make your gun dirty? 2) how can I keep it looking nice and shiny? 3) do tarnishe...

Re: I can't reload ammo this good . . .

What kind of scope do you have on the Tikka? I noticed with my cheap 3-9x and fat cross hairs, I couldn't really hold dead center consistently.

And my understanding is that with a slower twist like 1/12, you will have better luck with lighter bullets (32gr).

The hevier bullets are for 1/10 twist.

Re: New T/C Venture .204...what's wrong with it?

Very interesting. I hope the replacement doesn't have the same issue.

I can't believe they don't test fire these at the factory. Just 1 $0.50 bullet would save them from this mess. I bought the gun right as groundhog season started so now I'm without it for the peak time. What a bummer.
