Re: Blown Primer

I would Rick, but since they changed the format I have a hard time posting anything on that forum.

Blown Primer

Thought I should do an update on the blown primer issue I had. It really had me puzzled. I'm a very meticulous reloader and don't take chances, heck I even weight each and every load on a RCBS 10-10 scale and use a trickler ..............on every round I load. Time consuming I know and not always ne...

Re: Anyone shooting only (mostly) heavy bullets in a 204?

Brass brushes will show bluing on patches making it hard to determine if its copper from the barrel or did it come from the brass brush. I use aluminum jags and nylon brushes.

My load is 25gr. of 8208, LC brass, R-p 7 1/2 primer, and Sierra 55gr. #1365. I don't remember off hand my seating depth.

Re: Opinions on handloading new brass-

Thanks Tom. It was an eye opener. I think I'm the odd man out here. I try and go with 2 different loads or 2 different rifles. I load 6 rounds of a particular load for each rifle, then I shoot 3 rounds of a particular load, move over to the other rifle doing the same. Then I go back to the first rif...

Re: Anyone shooting only (mostly) heavy bullets in a 204?

FWIW, late last year I finished my 1st .20r Ruger build. I installed a White Oak Armory 26" heavy varmint barrel. It was a 1/10" twist. I'm shooting .39gr bullets and this AR build will hold 1/2MOA all day long. The only down side I have with this rifle is it builds up with copper pretty ...

Re: Opinions on handloading new brass-

Ok, I'll play. First, I started reloading around 1977, so my reloading room/table is quite full also, but occasionally I still ask for help. In fact, this maybe hard to believe, but yesterday for the first time in all those years of reloading I had a 223 round blow the primer clear out of the pocket...

I'm surprised the Wolf didn't get arrested for some kind of State violation like crossing the hwy at a no crossing zone. eyeroll

Re: New gun today.

The only Tikka I've owned was an early one back in the early 80's. It was in 6mm Rem., a long time favorite caliber, and was quite accurate. The stock design did not suite me so eventually I sold it. I have a couple of Nikon Monarch 2-8X32 scopes that have always worked well for me, but I am not a N...
