Re: Cooper Varmint Extreme model 21 in 204 Ruger
Must be a fast-twist barrel on that .204 Cooper: 50 gr. Blitzkings?!

Re: Need help on picking out a Ruger 204 rifle
Good choice; hope the wait's not very long! I have three .204s, including a "Sunday-go-to-meetin'" Cooper. It has a 26 inch barrel but doesn't seem to be as front-heavy as some other rifles with that length I've handled. I enjoy the extra fps for our big Eastern woodchucks at a few more ya...

Re: Rifle advice!
If I were looking for a short-barrel entry-level .204, the Ruger Am. Predator would the best bang for buck. If I wanted to try 40 grain bullets, I'd spend a little more for a TC Venture and its 10-twist barrel. I just handled the new budget TC "Compass": gives a new meaning to the term &qu...

.204 R700 VLSS Thumbhole. Accurate?
Not sure if that's the correct nomenclature. 26" non-fluted stainless barrel, laminated thumbhole stock, no longer made; not an XR100 (I wish). One coming up at a local auction and am wondering if these were reasonably accurate; I suppose about like any "modern-day" Remington: kind of...

Ruger Charger Accuracy?
Not expecting 10-22 rifle performance, but are they close? I recently inherited one. Took it out last week and ran the only LR ammo I had - Stingers (which I just read aren't recommended) through it - and shot around 11/2 inches. Bought a BX trigger, and am thinking of a Kidd barrel down the road. O...

Re: Red Alert: Backdoor AMMO Ban
Is this not the same stuff that goes into film ? How will this effect the movie and news reel products ? Or am I wrong in this ? Bill K You are correct. Older film was indeed nitrocellulose; its storage is highly regulated and it is stored and projected in cooled asbestos-lined rooms for safety. Th...

NOTE: That re-classification of wetted nitrocellulose has been put on "hold" by the ATF pending feedback from the industry.

Re: I'm hooked!
Welcome aboard! Sounds like you have the .204 figured out. I have three; not very often do I miss my .22-250 anymore.
As far as reloading: with 39 gr. SBKs, Reloader 10 is your friend; 35 Bergers do well for me with a compressed load of Varget.

Re: Groundhog crawl aways with .204..
Have come to the same conclusion as RIO: that tail twitch always means a fatal shot, and is always the result of a head or upper body brain/spine injury. I did shoot a 400-yarder recently that flattened out and its tail went up after being hit; didn't bother to jack another round, then suddenly it s...

Re: .204 Ruger Popularity?
http://www.thehuntingshack.com They load .204 ammo with bullets you'd never dream of finding in a store, e.g.: 35 and 40 gr. Bergers, 39 Sierra Blizkings (no longer offered in Federal ammo), etc. Prices and shipping are (relatively) reasonable if I remember right, as I've bought a box in various cal...

Not mine, but the guy's been trying to sell it for a couple weeks now. I have one of these hard-to-find, discontinued C-Zs and it's the most accurate off-the-shelf rifle I own.
Just saw that it went to Gunbroker, so may be gone or price could go up.

Re: 204Ruger Tikka Varmint Stainless
Too bad we Yanks can't buy that model Tikka in .204 here. Had my mitts on a new one in .22-250 that a dealer was closing out for 600 bucks a couple years ago, but walked away and am still kicking myself... Must've had a brain fart when I posted this. It's the Stainless Super Varmint that's no longe...

Re: 204 ruger wolf
I would think that if you don't go over much over 200 a .204 would work. I bought a .243 for a wolf hunt that never panned out (yet); since I don't hunt game - only predators/varmints - wish now I'd saved my money.
Would definitely go with the 45 gr. softpoints, though.
