Minimum Twist for 55gr Berger Bullets??

I've begun shooting in some area long range "benchrest" competitions, 100-200-300 as well as 600 yards matches...using a Savage 6BR. I'm shot my Cooper M21 recently out to 300, and it performed well with 39gr SBK's......which got me thinking about using the 55gr Bergers for the 600 yard di...

Re: Cooper .204 at 100-200-300 Yard Match

Ramos: yes....5 shots at each distance, with a max score of 150-15X. This is pretty informal competition, and I'm sure ranges/clubs do it in many different ways. The Caddo range I shot at last week uses the same targets, five shots per target for score, at ranges of 100-200-330-415. When I asked abo...

Re: 1000 yard competition

Congratulations!!! Sounds like a terrific experience! Litz not only "...works for Berger Bullets"....he's the author of a very helpful book loaded with great information: "Applied Ballistics for Long Range Shooters." How soon will you be at the firing line for long range shooting...

Cooper .204 at 100-200-300 Yard Match

I've begun competing in some benchrest matches around our area, and went to a 100-200-300 yard event today at a range in Jackson parish, about an hour away from me. It was overcast, about 65 degrees with mist and a little light rain....very cool temperatures for Louisiana at this time of the year. I...

"New" Cooper .204R at the Range

I took the "new to me" Cooper M21 in .204 to the range today and did some testing. Here's a photo of one of the targets....this string was loaded with 26.6gr of H335. I jerked the flyer off to the left, and the 4 shot hole measured .203. I'm not finished load work, and will do some testing...

Re: Reloading info source for 22-250

Thanks....that helps. I'd visit over at http://www.predatormastersforums.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=cfrm It's a good forum, with plenty of knowledgeable and helpful members.... Also, Saubier.com is the forum for small caliber discussion...including load data. There's a lot of crossover between th...

New (to me) Cooper Model 21 in .204

Picked it up yesterday....very, very nice wood...haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but will next Wednesday at the latest. That's a Leupold 6.5-20 fine duplex reticle scope. This will "pair up" with my Model 21 in .17 Fireball for the PD shoot in June in SD..... http://i1204.photobucket...

Re: DIY Camo Gun Dipping

Been there.....done that. JMHO: it's a lot more difficult than the videos make it appear. I bought a kit, and had my son-in-law who has his own custom cabinet shop.....i.e. he's more than familiar with materials and finishes than a klutz like myself.....use it on one of my guns. By the time he'd res...

Re: seating depth question

I'm not Ramos, and don't play him on TV  but..... That 2.26 is an arbitrary number....it will count of course if you're loading for an AR magazine...... The rule of thumb I've always known is that you should have one diameter of the bullet seated in the neck of the case.....e.g. with the .204 ...

Re: Barrel Mounted Chronograph

After reading Fred's post, I decided to take a look just at POI in relation to having the Magnetospeed on or off the barrel. I was going anyway to do some other work, so I set up an extra target @ 100 yards and fired 15 rounds. The rifle is my Savage 6BR, with 105gr Berger VLDs, Lapua brass, BR4 pri...
