Re: Case length
I was in the same position and bought a case length gauge with the same 1.850" and had my brother-in-law turn it down in a lathe, I think it was the .222 Remington Magnum. I wound up getting an extra cutter and used Locktite to keep it in place once I was happy with the overall length. (The tur...

Re: Barrel twist for 39 gr Blitz King
I cannot get the 39gr SBK to shoot well out of my Tikka T3 1:12" but it will shoot the 32gr SBK 1/2 MOA easily when I'm on . . . go figure.

Re: What range to zero my .204?
About 1.5 high at 100yrds. Hold dead center to about 300 and you will get a hit.. Works for me, as long as I do my part and hold steady. Especially with 32 grainers. Bill K Mine came out to 1.6" high at 100 yards, peaks to 2.1" at 150 yards, and is about a 1/4" high at 250. I didn't ...

Re: Wasn't someone selling small patches here for .204?
My patches came and so far I like them. The .22 - 270 size works great in my AR especially with my new 24" Dewey rod. The .17 - .20 worked good in my .204 either on the jag or over the wire brush. The difference in size between the two is significant and I would have liked to have seen a dedica...

I just looked up the Montana X-Treme jags and I really like those, thanks.wirelessguy2005 wrote:i ran into the same thing when using a dewey jag. Switched over to a Montana Extreme 20 Cal jag and our 7/8" patches, haven't looked back since.

Re: Wasn't someone selling small patches here for .204?
My .20 cal Dewey jag must be a bit large as I can only use a very small piece. A 3/4" sg punched near the end will work. A 7/8" sg punched in the middle won't start from the breech and I'm not breaking a $40 cleaning rod. These triangular jobby-dos that I ordered sound interesting - I will...

Re: Wasn't someone selling small patches here for .204?
After searching online I came across some triangular patches offered by Boresmith. I got 200 each of .20 cal and .22 cal for $3.50 for each pack. I can use a jag or a brush. About $11 for 400 patches shipped - their design sounds neat, I'll see how the reality is . . .

Wasn't someone selling small patches here for .204?
I thought maybe on this forum someone was selling the small cleaning patches for .204. I'm getting tired of cutting mine up into smaller pieces, thanks.

Re: My Tikka T3 prefers 32 gr bullets . . .
Went to the range again yesterday with a load group of 32gr SBK, a bit warm but the Tikka likes 28.0grains of 8208-XBR with a .446" group at 100 yards and I can cover the entire string with a dime - good enough for me. I'll use my 39gr bullets for paperweights . . .

What a surprise today . . .
Awhile back I bought a set of Redding dies for my .223 AR15 even though I had a full set of Lee dies. I was so impressed with these dies that I bought a used set for .204 off Fleabay for $22.52 (retails a bit over $40). They looked like they were used once and still had the factory grease on the out...

Re: My Tikka T3 prefers 32 gr bullets . . .
I suppose if I had $20 to throw away I could buy a box of factory Hornady 40gr V-Max and compare them side by side with their 32gr ammo that I know will shoot keyholes, but I'd rather spend it on another box of 32gr.

Re: My Tikka T3 prefers 32 gr bullets . . .
If a Tikka wont shoot, the problem is usually between the gun and the chair. I've shot a few keyholes at 100 yards with the factory 32gr V-Max. I could be wrong but I'm under the impression other .204 shooters haven't had good success with 39/40 grain bullets in their particular rifles either. Seem...

My Tikka T3 prefers 32 gr bullets . . .
I've tried numerous combinations and haven't been able to get 35gr - 39gr bullets to group well with various powder combinations. And I could never get anything to shoot better than the factory Hornady 32gr V-Max. So I set up another test using 32gr SBK with H4895 and IMR-8208-XBR. The H4895 wasn't ...

Re: I can't reload ammo this good . . .
What kind of scope do you have on the Tikka? I noticed with my cheap 3-9x and fat cross hairs, I couldn't really hold dead center consistently. And my understanding is that with a slower twist like 1/12, you will have better luck with lighter bullets (32gr). The hevier bullets are for 1/10 twist. I...

What's the next powder I should get?
I've tried various powders trying to push 39gr bullets (SBK and Speer) and I'm comming to the conclusion that my Tikka doesn't like 39 grainers. I picked up a box of 32 gr SBK and was wondering if I should try another powder? I have Varget, H322, H4895, 8208 XBR and I was thinking on getting either ...
