I would choose a 280 Rem over everything listed here so far. I've killed 1/2 dozen Elk, both Whitetail an Mule Deer and Antelope 50-500 yards over the years with my Ruger 77,Leupold scope, Hogue stock, Timney trigger. Shoots 120-160 grain bullets very well and has bigger and smaller lead available. ...

Didn't our fore fathers eliminate the wolves once, when there were a lot fewer people in this country. There was a good reason for that. Wolves and people and livestock ( our nations food source ) were not compatable in the past. I wonder why anybody thinks they are now. It's a good thing the libera...

Glen, If the bullets are a buck a piece and you buy a box of fifty, you,ll have enough to check your zero and kill a critter each year for many years. You would pay $5 a year for bullets anyway so what's the big deal if you spend $10 for better performance. That's a very small part of the investment...

Try a pm to Silverfox, I bet he could shed some light. I don't get that far east very often, haven't shot in N.D. for a few years.

Rick, what kind of bore guide are you using? Do you recommend it? I admire your entire setup, everything looks very efficient and functional.

I've been getting great results with 24.8 grains of 10x with both 39&40 grain bullets. approach any max. load carefully to make sure your rifle doesn't generate too much pressure. Silverfox and others have successfully used more than 25 grains of 10x. Check the favorite loads in the reloading fo...

1 inch low at 25 yards = 3 inches high at 100 with various loads in both my Savage 204's. About the same formula on 22-250 and 220 Swift with 50 and 55 grain bullets. Once you're on target at 100, don't mess with the 25 yard line unless you shoot at a lot of mad charging gophers. A 40 mph wind won't...

Guy, I have the same set up as in your picture. My Dad won 8 state championships with this rifle back in the 50's and 60's. I was shooting some BR50 a few years ago when I lived in Wyoming using a tricked out 10/22. I did very well in our informal competitions, but 1 day I brought out the 52 just fo...

For 40 years my answer would have been simply 220 Swift! The problem now is I have a couple 204's and I haven't fired either of the Swifts in about a year. I think I just answered your question.

Try contacting Savage before you do anything drastic. They want it to shoot well just as much as you do.
